    copper plated ground rod

I have a ground rod that I pulled out when removing an old telephone pole at work. It's about 8 ft. long 3/4 in. thick. about 10lbs. I cut it in half and found it to be only coated with copper.
do I throw it into the scrap steel pile or does the copper coating make it worth more?
