MelRay....my apologies on the spelling. lol. I just glanced at that today and realized I didn't spell neodymium correctly. I have 1 of 2 things to blame it on. I posted that from my android because my PC was being used at the time.......or when inebriated, my thumbs get the dreaded d & m dislexia on a smartphone. In all seriousness though, the magnets from HDDs are neodymium (rare earth) mags. They are quite strong and will find pretty much anything ferrous. Be careful with them though if you get a lot around each other. I've actually caused some nasty blood blisters and have seen them hit each other hard enough to shatter while doing "reasearch". Okay so what, I was playing.
You can also get them on
ebay and they can be quite handy in other applications. I've used the really small ones before to keep a dryer door closed when the clip broke on it, and in the past when running wire or cable I have used a few stacked together and stuck to the end of a screwdriver to catch and pull a steel snake through a small wall opening. A variety of uses can be concocted.
