25 cents a lb whole
80 cents a lb with bulbs and plastic bulb housing removed
Would you clean them? I have like a wheel barrow full....?

have you tried removing the bulb and smashing the housing with a hammer to bust it off ? (using proper safety precautions of course )
No, not worth it to me. Your going to lose a lot of weight taking the bulbs off...6 of 1 half dozen of the other.

I'd trim them and throw the trimmings in my shred pile.
This is good stuff for when your slow. Trim them out in front of the TV or whatever. Sell the sockets as copper bearing and now you got clean #2 insulated on top of it. Your dollar per hour is going to suck but when the snow stroms hit or the phone isn't ringing...this stuff is great fill in work to keep your hands moving and your brain off where the next dollar is coming from. Again it's not going to make you Warren Buffet so you got to juggle the time with the payout. If you got better money makers...sell it whole and move on.
I did this with 50lbs worth one time, in the end it didn't pay off for me as the yard wouldn't price it as number 2 since it has such thick insulation
As I get #2 ins wire price $1.05 lb for it I cut them. If they are whole they pay .15 And yep when I cut off the bulbs and harness they go into a fridge or stove.
Thanks guys ill sit on them im in no hurry to sell.....the yard i talked to today pays tin price for fridges like 8 cents lb so is that legit to throw the bulb sockets im my stripped fridges? And would those bulb sockets be the same price as the cord odds and ends i have?
I just got .53 a pound for a 15lb box on side of rd. He pays low grade wire price bulbs included.
Better than a quarter
Ended up takin in two totes whole
My old man is retired, so he doesn't care. I snip the bulbs and he strips the wire. He said I sit here and watch tv anyway so I might as well make money too.
I took in 30 lbs. of Christmas lights last week. I was paid .75 cents lb. The scrapyard listed them as-Insulated Copper-Low Grade. I did not remove the bulbs.
.75 with bulbs on is great. I get $1.05 for #2 wire by me. But would sell all I could for .75 with no cutting!
I just checked in on my xmas light bins, I have 6 more than full and total weight was just shy of 230lbs. I actually just picked up another 15 or so strands today that's why I weighed them because I had to get them out anyway.
Today I sold 33 lbs of holiday lights with the bulbs attached for .90 per pound. They were the miniature indoor type lights. I thought that was pretty good. Especially for not having to do any prep work.
That's what bites me in the arse is leaving the bulbs on, I only have high/low grade at my yard so it's either .90+ or .25-.40 per lb. Bulbs are pretty heavy though I had around 13lbs of bulbs for 45 strands.
