Newbie needs help with board grading (I did search and read the stickies though)

Hi all,

New to the forum but I have been lurking and reading for a few weeks. I've learned so much so far! However, I have a few boards out of some computer equipment (backplane board for a SATA drive array) that I was hoping to get some input on grading. Pics below. The connectors all seem to be gold pin.

I'm no expert...but probably motherboard grade...or server grade.

Edit: Unless your buyer has a separate section for backplanes...mine does not.

I have 60+ of these plus another 100 on the way, the actual PCB material is about double the thickness of regular motherboard, is that normal?

Yes it is. The gold on them is better than other type of boards as it is thicker plate and of higher K weight.

Those are usually referred to as daughter boards or expansion boards. They are used to switch the direction that slot cards mount to the motherboard or to add additional cards to a system. Backplanes are main connection boards found in rack mounted servers that have slots to add component boards for memory, processers and other devices to make a complete server. Not sure of the price difference between the two.

Duece2000, can you tell me what the average price range for the slot boards would be... Im currently holdi a couple of them and wanted to know what to do with them

The slot boards are usually server grade or higher as telecom. Depends on the individual boards 20% higher than motherboard price on average.
