Hello fellow E-Scrapper,
Today I scrapped two older 386 computers today.
I was perplexed what to do with the CPU modules.
One is a GATEWAY 2000 386SX-16 CPU MODULE (p/n 2576010-2) with an Intel i386SX-25 chip soldered on the board.
The other is an AST Processor Board (p/n 202401-002D) with an AMD Am386 SX/SXL-25 chip soldered on board.
Do they go with the other high grade board (i.e HD logic boards) or with the Mother boards?

If it's soldered on, leave it on the board. You will actually devalue the board if you take it off. I would contact your board buyer for pricing.

not exactly sure what you mean by "CPU module" but looks like you have a 16 Mhz and a 25 Mhz, which you might want to look up on ebay to see if there's any selling there

I know for myself, I don't take the processors off of the boards that are soldered on.
I just don't like to take the boards to my buyers all butchered up.
Like Bear said, I have recently started eBaying some of the older stuff before I scrap it.
I have had pretty good luck with that.
There may a million better places to live than Iowa, but none of them are home!
The will go with your mother boards but will got for a bit more than mother boards.
if you get $3 per # for normal boards expect to get $3.20 - 3.35 per # depending on your buyer for those

He is talking about CPU modules that connect to the motherboard, not ripping the chip off the motherboard.

Thanks for the responses. I didn't realize those 386's didn't have a ceramic intel CPU chip on them. C'est la vie!
But I got a cool 5 1/4 floppy drive I'm gonna try to sell on eBay.
Im going to see if I could sell those boards too. ;-)

If the gateway 386 was running and looked decent you could have made some money selling it whole.
