Major Score or a few great boards and shred

Bought a few nice goodies at an auction this morning and since this was ending in between three I was planing to bid on, sniped at it as well and won it for $16.00 and change. A machine that sold for 54,000 8 years ago.....

    IDENTIX MODEL TP-3800XCH-ED - GovDeals.com

Any advise on who might have the skill / desire / contacts to refurb and market this beast? Thinking I might call IDENTIX on Monday and they might be a buyer. Anyone have experience with trying to sell high dollar electronics back to the original company to referb as a used machine?

Thanks in advance for your words of wisdom & Happy Thanksgiving !

nice find! I love getting oddball equipment like this that, worst case, reaps rewards of wiring, boards and other resalable parts. Maybe you can sell for "more than scrap" and make your holidays even nicer

search search search for a buyer....you never know!

I scrapped on very similar to what you have. Mine had about 30 pounds of aluminum lens, 1 gold cpu soldered in and 2 image sensors with gold fingers and ports some misc finger board and like 600 pounds of shred. Nice score

I'd sell it separate on Ebay(ten day auction started Fri afternoon). That printer might be higher end and worth seeing if you can use it yourself. I'd also check out the tower to see what it's made of

Otherwise you might search for parts/repair places and see if they've got any interest.
Lastly, and depending on your rush factor, put it on CL for a couple months

Thanks for the breakdown! Gives me an idea of what is in there and helps cool the "Break it down to see twitch"

Going to to do some research and see if I can sell the darn thing, Maybe a little backwoods PD trying to modernize. Interestingly, just from a little bit of poking around it seems lots of major corps have units for their HR Departments to screen applicants.

Actually found an old listing on ebay. Opening bid was $3,500. No takers.

I hope that tower still has goodies inside it. It looks like the side cover has been taken off and not put back on. Good score!

    Start yours @ 3,499 and you'll cinch it! ; )

Hek, I'd recommend a much lower start, such as 99.95 with free shipping(check the fee scale and start just under the next step up) or something that gives your money back + shipping. Big stuff isn't really much harder to ship, although it is harder to package( I've even charged a crating fee). Not sure how big that thing is but a washing machine or refrigerator box and a box cutter will get it wrapped in no time. With ultra heavy stuff I might even stick a piece of paneling on bottom for added strength. A 4x8 sheet of styro-foam insulation works good for padding. I've had stuff like that go up to 6 or 8 hundred dollars, but that was in times past, and ebay has changed, so I offer my suggestions merely for consideration
