What grade would this be classified as? It has a waxy coating all over it (waterproofing)? It's actually 2 boards, a smaller one with just black chips on it. Any gold in it? If so, what parts? Thank you!!

I don't see gold. I do see bunches of IC's, the whole backside looks like it's covered in MLCCs, an I think I see some Tantalum.
Pretty neat board, thanks for the picture. Usually only see'm folded up.
Perhaps someone with better eyes then mine can spot any hidden gold.

This is the smaller board. So would this go as mid grade? I'm very new to ewaste, learning mostly from this forum
I would say those are mid grade but you might want to check with an e-waste buyer. No gold showing.
As Happy said, I'd check with a buyer. I'd also say mid, but I'm not a board buyer. They will have the definitive answer. As they all grade differently.
Good luck an let us know how it turns out for you.

The majority of gold in electronics is located where you cannot see it, ie IC chips flat packs, etc. I don't see why it couldn't go for mid grade but to be perfectly redundant check with whatever buyer you plan on selling to
These are better than mid grade and should bring peripheral/cable box pricing, around 1.50 or a bit more. The bottom one might pass as CD/DVD board with the right buyer.
haha this terminology is quite confusing. i see some people use peripheral and midgrade interchangeably. i see that this isnt very accurate though. generally the difference between midgrade and "peripheral" is the presence of heavy alum and transformers on midgrade. often times though, i find after removing the heavy objects there are enough IC chips to qualify it as peripheral. Am i correct in making this assumption? Is there a general consensus that midgrade is a lower grade than peripheral and they are two distinct categories? thanks to anyone who clears this up for me
