If your talking about the ends on the wire...it's gold an gold.
On mine they are at lest. Gold plugs into gold. Look close at the phone base where the cord goes, should see..gold. Not a lot but some. It's not very much in the phone ends tho, so don't get to excited.
As always...YMMV.

With today's prices on gold ends, it really doesn't matter.
Gold ends are currently going for 95 cents. For me to ship gold ends via fed ex, is about 40 cents a pound, unless of course I have total shipment weight of over 400 pounds, in which case, I could ship freight. But this would still cost 20 cents a pound. Bottom line, best net once it leaves my house is 75 cents a pound.
I currently have 2 yards that I sell wire to. One is 40 minutes away and considers this #2 insulated, paying about $1 per pound. The other is an hour away and considers this Telco, paying $1.27 a pound. I still need to sell my wire, clipped or unclipped, so this trip is a necessity no matter what I do with the ends.
Once you figure out what they really are, sit down and figure out if you are making any more money, by clipping them and shipping them. If you are making more doing that, then you should probably look for a new yard.
If they were $2.00 per pound or more, I'd be cutting them. Any thing less is not worth my time. Now if your talking the old style ends from the cords to hook printers and monitors to computers, that would be a little different as they add up quicker.
Are you guys thats selling the wire itself are you removing the plastic and selling the wire itself. Or are you just cliping the ends and tossing in tbe wire pile?
Ok thnx about the same here #2 insulated
Yeah unless gold goes back up to $1700 or so gold ends just dont pay to ship anymore if you have a good wire buyer.
I always cut mine since my yard wants them clipped, and insulated wire only runs around $0.85/lb here
actually most mod ends, RJ11, RJ12, and RJ45 (both cat5 and cat6) usually have 50 microns gold over nickel pins. I'd say toss them all in a 5 gallon bucket and sit on them... probably take more than a couple weeks to fill it up anyway.
I'm saving the ends for gold recovery cause it's a hobby. Anyone have an efficient way to get the pins out of ethernet/RJ12/RJ45 plugs? I don't mind time consuming/tedious, it's a hobby, but I also like to be as efficient as possible. I haven't found any conclusive best practice. Seen some suggestions for a coffee grinder, but nothing verifiable.
