What Kind of Computer Cable is This?

I came across a few cables from a computer store clean-out and have no idea what kind they are or what their called. Tried looking up on Ebay but without a name/ model # it was like spitting in the wind. I have put a couple of pic's here in hopes someone will recognize them. Sorry for the crappy pic's but it's all my camera can do. Thanks for looking.

    Hope it helps.

Can't put the photo but link to a store selling something similar. Best I could find with a phone jack end an a usb plug.

That is most likely for a point of sale scanner. I have seen similar ones with the RJ11 jack on one end and a serial connection instead of a USB connector on the other end. The newer ones are mostly wireless, probably not much resale value there.

It is a cat5 to USB. If you look on the back of a DSL modem/router, there will usually be a USB port to make a network connection to a networked device. I have not used to USB connection for that purpose, but many DSL's come with that cable.

It is a Cat 5 Ethernet connector with 5 wires attached to the clear plug, it's a little bigger than a phone plug.
That's why I scratched a bald spot on my head.

I agree with Richmann. Looks like a cable used for monitoring battery backups.

I "third" what richmann said. It looks like that cable that connects a UPS to the computer for communication. I never hooked any of mine up.

Yeah, they are usually left laying on top of the UPS and never used. I can't tell you how many times I've walked into an equipment room and heard the battery backups beeping because they have dead batteries.

When I first got cable internet, the tech that came over couldn't figure out how to setup the Ethernet card on my Macintosh G5. So he plugged the ethernet end into the cable modem, and the USB end into my Mac. It worked.

That was 2003 so my memory is a bit fuzzy, but I think that's how it went down.

The guys saying it's for a UPS Are correct also. It Can be used in either application.
