I'm just a small timer that works locally. Sadly ... i'm only seeing 1/3 to 1/4 the volume i did a few years ago. The handwriting was on the wall though. There's been that trend in consumer electronics from large to small to hand held devices. I'm seeing that reflected in the
ewaste stream now. It's pretty slim pickins these days. Mostly tv's & printers with a laptop or a tablet here and there.
Anyway ... nowhere near enough volume to palletize. I ship by box.
My strategy is to be selective and ship only higher value quality boards. ie: Let's say you shipped a pound of ram @ 14.00$/lb. A shipping cost of .50 or .60 / lb would be negligible .... barely dents the bottom line.
IRL ... a mixed box w/ small socket mobos as the lowest value item still nets somewhere around 1.50 - 2.00$/lb on average.
A 1,000 lb pallet would have to net 1.5 - 2 k. after shipping to be on par with that ?
Small but efficient seems to work best in my situation. I go for the most bang for the box.
