Smile Sharing and question regarding MIL E-waste - Dismantling a Missile Test Equipment.

Hi I dismantled a tester for MILAN Misiles. and found some cool things. I wanted to share the pics.

What would be better in this case to depopulate or sell the boards as it is?. I only sell them on ebay. You get most of the times more money than any scrapyard.
I like it how it was solder with wire like homebrew.

are those gold capped capacitors? it doesen show but besides the yellow coating they have a gold tone.

sorry for the light but those two white habe golden legs as well as the cap

those are some big tantal capacitors. idk the red ones. need to check them out more in detail

this are the power boards and a lot of mosfets

no idea what that ADC120M does. imgonna take it appart

    some nice IC's

this are two strips of contacts. So I think overall i can get up to 200gr between 150 - 200 I think.

odd. I never saw a case made out of brass. the base is made out of plastic, because it had like 30 D NI-Mh batteries.

it had this connector strip to manage some connections. those round connectors have also golded conectors.
the wiring its odd. not cooper. ultra thin single wire and very resistant. any ideas? some kind of steel-cooper alloy? i have no idea.

here is a pic of the base. it weights a ton. I wonder if I can revive them.

Next thing Im gonna tear is a Thermalvisor Test Equipment. its big like a 20U rack.

    here are some more pics.

the ICS were palced in this board. those are rounded golden connectores

    more gold legged ics

power board. anything worth stripping here? I thought the relays. ICs Tantalum capacitor and that golden thick diode? unfortunately no ceramic capacitors.

those grey at the bottom are capacitors?. they arent resistors.

in the back is as well gold plated.

    better view of the ICs

    in Summary My questions.

the gold plated pins were connected with a ultra thin single wire very resistant. any ideas? some kind of steel-cooper alloy?

to sell it on ebay, what would be better? depopulate and sell separately or the whole board. since the board itself is has gold plated paths.

any idea how much I can sell them for? based on the components that are to be found.

prices in germany Ebay are like 3-5€ per Kg of regular PC Mothers, 7€ server mothers, 12€ large server boards with lots of gold plating.

    CPU with gold plated pins
19€ per Kg with cap (i got 27€ per Kg on ebay)
    74€ per Kg for ceramic
27€ per Kg CPU no cap
    22€ /Kg for slot-CPUs

    RAM
    *25€/Kg gold plated contact
    13€/KG silver plated contacts

    Boards
    Mother Pre2000
    6€-7€ per Kg

    Mother post 2000
    3-5€ per Kg

    Industrial small components
    2-3€ per Kg

Industrial Large components (PSU boards and such)
    ,5-1€ per Kg

    *Server sold on ebay
    5-7€ per Kg

    *Large Server sold on ebay
    11€ per Kg.

other prices are from Schrott24, that I use as a guide for current pricing.

I know you mean well but be careful, to check the numbers on those IC's to make sure they're not banned from export.

Tnx, when I bought it from the military I was already told that I can only sell it within germany.
besides the IC's arent there any other valuable piece?. like the gold plated contacts or the tantalum capacitor?

Take a file and scratch through the apple green ( solder mask ) to see if the traces are gold also bear in mind some circuit boards are multi layers with traces sandwiched inside.

You might have a better response over on this forum, there you'll find members from Germany who will be interested in purchasing your treasures.

1st Photo - 2 capacitors with pinched ring or waste = either wet or AG Tantalum, 2nd photo - Axial/Hermetic Tantalum capacitors just above and left and right of connectors, 3rd & 5th photos same as 2nd photo plus 2 in center of connectors

Hi tnx for the reply, i dont know the difference between AG and Wet Tantalum. I checked as I scraped them and I thought they were Wet Tantalum capacitors. they are quite heavy in comparison with the elektrolitic capacitors I gathered from the boards in one device like 600 grams.
I disasembled a tube. I asume its for the laser missile guiding system. and it has, in what appears to be, some solid gold contacts. besides the acid method, is there any chance to identify if its gold plated or solid gold?

I acquired recently field line tester and I disasembled one of them and it has a big potentiometer with lots of gold plated contacts. I know sometimes MIL or aerospatial devices has some parts with large content of industrial gold.
I thought ot acquire this device to test the thickness of the gold. is it any good?

    Think about the numbers D.

What is the value of the electronic scrap ? ( 10 - 20 euros ?)

What is the cost of the tester ? ( 345 euros ?)

Will you make profit with the work that you are doing ?
