obsolete cisco server switches off to new homes!

I posted 11 Cisco 3550's on Wednesday at lunchtime. Within 5 minutes I sold 5 of them. Sold 1 yesterday and the last 4 today. I found 1 was dead :/ oh well... better than the customer finding it! I listed them pretty cheap ~50 including shipping. They are quite big and heavy, so using works UPS account I can ship 1 for around 20. I was advised they were only worth 15-20 so I was quite happy to net 30 per unit. I could probably have raised price a bit, but for what i had invested in them i'm quite happy and i'm hoping my customers are too.

I have a stack of 30 cisco switches, not sure what model but I know they are 10/100 and not gigabit obviously. I don't have any power adapters for them, did you do simple power on testing?

Yes, I just did power testing and then shipped them off with a 14 day warranty in case they were not functional. Only had an issue with one unit, section of one bank would not operate, but the guy waited a month and a half to install it, I still gave partial refund to keep him happy. Good luck selling, I sold most on ebay and some on Amazon. I got an average of $25 profit on each. Much better than scrap value!

I didn't take notes on the model #, but someone gave me 4 cysco switches or something similar that had close 15 pounds of telecom boards and about a quarter of a pound of slot processors in each one. I would have lost money to sell those at $25 each. This one had three layers of hotswappable boards on it. You might take the cover off and just peak inside before you sell them to get an idea of what they look like inside.

Also note that Cisco switchs can have custom configurations segmenting traffic to certain ports, or even turning other off. If your customer gets one of these he/she may not be able to get the switch working. Also keep in mind that Cisco switch's have a management interface. If you do not know the password to this and your customer wants it your are unfortunately SOL. You can not reset a Enterprise level Switch/router configuration with out the enable password.

I took one apart that did not work, had 1 pound board and a 4 ounce aluminum heat sink, and 1/2 lb power supply. As I say, $25 is pretty good for what I was selling
