Just found this on wiki
Griswold Manufacturing was an American manufacturer of cast iron home products founded in Erie, Pennsylvania in 1865 that finally closed in 1957. For many years the company had a world-wide reputation for high-quality cast-iron cookware. Today, Griswold pieces are collector's items.
Those prices you put in your thread are about right. Criswold are the most sought after cast iron cookware. A freind of mine found 6 cast iron frying pans in a dumster, took them to an aution and got $65.00 for them. That pot with the lid should be worth alot more. Good find.
I think your buddy typed it in wrong.
A Griswold 8 tite-top with non matching lid just like yours but cleaned up went for $57.00 shipped.

Thanks guys there are actually two style lids there's the one with the writing on the top and there's the one I have which is a self basting lid for easy cleaning do you guys think I should try to restore it or just throw on ebay I mean either way I'll profit off of it
My advice - light soap and water and WD40 cleaning. Nothing abrasive.
Estimate $40 for shipping costs, and build your price from there.
This guy uses salt and a potatoe to clean the rust out...
