Yanno, from the terms of service on ebay, it looks like you are not supposed to list something you don't physically have at the time of the listing. That right there is leverage to get the negative feedback reversed.

WI ITAD LLC, IT Liquidation Services, we remarket, buy and sell scrap electronics No customer too large or small!
At least you still have 4.8s or higher for your DSRs. The feedback percentage will rise, too.
I'd be interested to see how eBay handles this. It's more classy and professional than the classic "Buy his cheapest item and leave negatives" tactic. And cheaper, too!
Thanks!! So this person never actually "owns" the item except on paper (?). Does ebay allow that or people just get around it?? I suspect it could blow up in some guys face if he can't find the item cheaper in a reasonable amount of time. Most of the things I sell are probably less affected by such schemes.
Not surprising about Alibaba. Its runs by the Chinese. They've been making up schemes since Marco Polo!!
Basically, yes. They are constantly putting their reputation on the line, and are basing their business success or failure completely off of other people's actions. It can't end well.
I bought some shipping labels on eBay. Interestingly, the box said "Alibaba US" on the from part. Basically, I ordered on eBay, yet the eBay seller didn't actually fulfill (Ship) the order.
CORRECT
As a Seller drop shipping you are only as good as the Seller you are buying from
Until 6 years ago when Hollander stopped printing the manuals and went to eBooks only
I sold the Hollanders and they were drop shipped from Hollanders fulfillment vendor in Washington state
Worked out GREAT for me >> I was dealing with a reputable company so there was little risk for me
I made almost $200 each set and I never handled them
Life was good!
The couple mistakes they did make >> wrong books, broken binders >> That type of thing >> They sent replacements next day
an education tonight. Never have heard of such a scheme. My sheltered life...
When I whine about some of my low prices I get on ebay, my postmistress tells me I should have some friends or relatives bid it up (shill bidding, although I doubt she knows that term). I just look dumbfounded and tell her that's not allowed. Her comeback is< yeah, but don't you think it happens???"
Next time she says that I'll reply, "Yeah, and I have a conscious to be an honest person."!! Money doesn't free one's soul
OK, too tired to go skin my freshest coon out. Hopefully it isn't frozen solid by morning and I'll do it before work...
There was a shipping label scam several years ago >> Involved FedEx and UPS and their 1/2 page self stick labels
An eBay Seller would list 1000 labels for X amount of money with FREE shipping
Buyer would purchase them
The Seller would open the Buyer a FREE FedEx account using the information they received for the ship to address
Once the account was open the Seller would have the labels shipped to the Buyer from FedEx
Some of the Buyers never did realize they had FedEx accounts
The FedEx labels have no logos >> 1/2 sheet label and the other 1/2 is regular paper to print receipt on
The UPS labels are 2 1/2 sheet labels per sheet with a small logo on the edge >> Covered with a sharpie or if using Priority mail I put a Priority label on top of the LOGO
Had this happen to me before (imagine that)...............I refused to send item to a different address than was on their pay-pal..............I cancelled transaction and refunded money............Of course I got a negative..........You will have to call Ebay and don't get off the phone until you get someone to reverse the negative.............You never shipped item and you gave the money back..............It may take an hour on the phone but it may be worth it to keep your feedback up

Must have been years ago
OR the Buyer didn't know what they were doing
Now when you check out you are given a chance to edit the ship to information to anything you want it to be
I did this myself about 6 months ago
Buyer purchased a Caddie Headlight assembly and I went crazy looking for it
Finely did the drop ship >> Ordered same item from another Seller
Contacted them and asked them not to include any paperwork in the package
They were kind enough to do that for me
I did sweat bullets until I saw the nice Feed Back
About a week later the light turned up sitting on the shelf behind me
They were two labels per sheet, and didn't have any UPS logo. The back of the paper says "5 Stars" all over the place. Not a brand name, but the labels work well enough.
I will admit that I still run a piece of packing tape over them. Alibaba US also ran packing tape over the label on the box! Now that's product confidence!
Called ebay today 2 times. The first time they said it could not be removed. The 2nd time I was told the same thing so I asked for a supervisor. She listened to my explanation, looked at the messages and said the feedback will be removed within 24 hours.
The feedback has been removed.
VERY Nice when the system works!!
You would think if a refund was given in a reasonable amount of time that leaving bad feedback wouldn't even be an option that comes up.

"Give them enough so they can do something with it, but not too much that they won't do nothing."
You'd think, but such is ebay.
I really wouldn't call it a scam or scheme, it is a way to list products and have the items and orders and shipping handled by the company selling the product. It is done all the time in stores and on websites or even insurance sales. Someone is advertising a product or service for someone else and makes a bit of money off the sale of the item. It is "sales"
I have no problem someone or company selling for someone else (commission, consignment) if they know the other party has the product. The job of the person (company) getting the commission is getting the best price for it. The problem I have is someone saying they have a product and then finding it for cheaper while the buyer has already paid for it such as it appears was the case in this point and getting all pissy when there wasn't (maybe) exactly 200 units in the lot. To me, that smacks of dishonesty or at least maalox swigging business practices (hope I find those things for less because I just sold "them" to someone even though I not actually have them in hand). Maybe its just me but I wouldn't do it...
I just had a very similar situation yesterday. I'm gonna post about it here shortly haha.

It happens. I sell lots of laptop parts on eBay. One disk drive sold for $9.99, title says laptop CDRW DVD disk drive model number#..., had three pictures of different vantage points of the disk drive, the description says in the listing laptop disk drive. Customer bought it and sent me an email "this is not a laptop! I thought I bought a laptop for $99.99 with a disk drive, you tricked me"
*facepalm*
My advice would be to leave as little open to confusion as possible in the title. Today you have people buying ebay items from their cell phones while on their cigarette break. They don't read our descriptions. They read the title, look at the pics and price and buy.
