Not to rain on the parade BUT I noticed you had FREE Priority shipping
And that looks like the package will be larger then 1 cubic foot entering into Dimensional weight
If shipping to zone 5 - 8 you are going to eat up most of the $35.00 on shipping
Yep, I always list with free shipping. Things usually come out fine.
7 lbs cast weight, I came out fine.
Could have been better, could have been worse.
Just throwing stuff against the wall and see what sticks.
This seems sticky, and worth repeating.

That's cool, with all the interest in steampunk, and artsy fartsy stuff, i'd be surprised if you couldn't have gotten $50 for it...I'm definitely going to keep my eyes open for something like that...

Item sells for $100.00 with FREE shipping >> FVF (about 10%) will be roughly $10.00
Item sells for $80.00 with $20.00 shipping >> FVF (about 10%) of item will be roughly $8.00 PLUS FVF (about 10%) of shipping charge will be roughly $2.00 for a TOTAL of $10.00 in FVF

If you REALLY object to paying the FVF on the shipping >> have FREE shipping and your FVF on shipping will be $0.00 since 10% of FREE is $0.00
Wow, I sell on ebay a good bit and never thought of the TV frames. Very coincidentally, I was cleaning up after a storm today and hauling off scrap and almost picked up a nearly identical frame to this one but decided not to since I wasn't hauling any other aluminum. Thanks!
I agree that I should have asked about 50 for it - I would have been happier obviously with the overall result.
I like using free shipping, it actually allows me to get a higher overall profit most of the time. It's only a few odd pieces that catch me by surprise.
I did not account for the odd dimensions of this piece. Normally, shipping for something of that weight would only have run about $20. Oh well, live and learn. I was not even sure it would sell. Now I have some info to work with.
With free shipping, fast service and high customer ratings ebay moves you up into the rankings when someone does a search. I sold an old toy the other day that I almost did not list because there were a dozen of them already listed, and some of them were nicer for nearly the same price (within $2). It sold within a couple of days.
I don't mind the ebay fees, they help me sell stuff I normally would have no outlet for. They should make money for that service. I try to make them look good, and in return, they make me look good, while making me money.
I'm not exactly sure how, what, when or why ebay implements this specific policy, but at some point ebay actually started reducing my postage costs.
I suspect it has something to do with customer service, rankings and total dollar sales. I've had a few rare items where postage was reduced by 40%, but most often I get about a 20% discount, which more than makes up for the 10% on my postage costs.
I got a little lazy with pricing this specific piece since I had nothing to base it on. Unfortunately, I did not get much of a postage discount, probably because of its odd dimensions. A more conventional sized package of the same weight would have been less (or more eligible for a discount).

This is very cool. I would have never guessed to list something like that. I normally don't list stuff that will be very hard to package. It seems that would be tough to package up. Thanks for sharing.
I just found something similar on a older plasma tv....cast aluminum frame....gonna try it. Thanks for the input.
