Shipping a Desktop Tower - Whos the cheapest

    Hey all,

Been doing some searching on the forum/google but have yet to find a answer. What carrier are you all using to ship computer desktop tower? What is your average cost? Do you package yourself or let the carrier do it? Do you purchase insurance or roll the dice?

    Thanks!

    -Ray

are you wanting to ship complete towers? I would think unless you had many, many and tried freight, it would not be worth it. If you break them down, then you have many options.

really there is so many and so many options for shipping I would call all the places around you to see which is a better deal, and it also varies so much on how far you ship to and if you have a business account and so much extra

    Client should be paying shipping.
Generally though, if something is under 5 lbs, I'll ship USPS priority. Over 5 goes FedEx.

Depends on weight and size. USPS gets expensive if the size is large (if it don't fit the window you cant ship it), FedEx is probably cheaper if the thing is heavy and you have an account with them.

For me shipping makes all the difference on profit selling used parts. I spend far too much time doing the needed research. Since I live on the east coast I find that the USPS Regonial Boxes great for out to the Mississippi. After that Priority Mail using my box or a USPS Flat rate box. It is rare that the USPS Parcel Select beats out the USPS Prioity.

Occasionally Fedex beats USPS for me but then I have to drive to the Fedex location so if its less than a couple of dollars and I need to leave the house anyway I pass on Fedex.

I have yet to find UPS giving me a good enough price to even ship one item.

So what does that have to do with your question well I ship items several times a week and have to check before listing and shipping.

You will need to do your own research for your own special situation. 73, Mike
