Looking for a reliable buyer

As you all know, there are a lot of frauds in this business.

I am looking for a reputable buyer for our Processors, Ram, and also someone who will buy or hard drives, shred them and provide a certificate of destruction.

We have been cruising along well with a buyer who all of a sudden wants to classify pentium 2 and 3 processors as ram.

I will keep sending them the off price, bulk items, but we need a better place to sell our valuables.

I posted a thread last week about hard drives and I appreciate all the comments on destroying them myself.

However, we have hundreds in stock and hundreds more coming in. The labor rate does not justify the effort.

It does not take long at all (under 5 minutes) to destroy any hard drive.

But to answer your question, check out the buyer section for electronics. There are several reputable, trustworthy, competitive buyers here. Just have to search them out and ask.

If you would take the time to tell me how I can destroy a hard drive in under 5 minutes that would be hippa compliant I am all ears.

I posted a forum last week and people threw out lots of good ideas. However, The first hard drive I did took 15 minutes and I am struggling to see how the components are worth as much as the bulk rate undestroyed price.

I have a great source for computers and have hundreds of hard drives that need to be disabled before I can sell them...unless a buyer can provide proof of destruction.

Beimer, I don't know anything about hippa. Just what works for me, and what others have said works for them. There is hole punching machines that a lot of ewaste companies use to destroy hard drives. A lot of people, including members of this site, use between 4 to 5 pieces of software that totally eradicates all information on hard drives.

Some people simply use a hammer and a pick and punch a hole in them, destroying the disks in the hard drives.

Me personally, I use a few different software titles that parttimescrapper on here has mentioned in a few posts such as: Hard Drive Eraser, kill disk, media wiper, seatools (cant remember what that one is for, as I have yet to use it), and wipe drive.

Then, I take my small sledge and a pick and punch a hole in them. Then, I take pictures, and send those alone with my COD to the clients.

No issues as of yet.

Like I said, there is several options.

Also, if you have a source for that much stuff, might just be worth it to hire 2 or 3 part timers, give them 2 pcs, and the software and have them going to work.

I dont know if you saw my post but you can use a wood splitter to crush the drives.

The travel time of my log splitter is 18 seconds from start to finish. It will crush / cut in half 3 drives at once. The time to reset so i have space to insert another drive is 3 seconds once i have done the first drives the travel time is 5 seconds as i don't have to extend the hydrolic cylinder the entire length.

18 seconds to close + 10-15 seconds to crush 3 drives + 5 second reset + 10 seconds to put drives back on splitter + 15 seconds to crush new drives. Total time for 6 drives is just about 1 minute.

When the drives come out they are often in 2-4 pieces, crushed and the platters are destroyed.

Of course i have a 28 ton splitter, but the 5 ton electric ones will do the trick just fine but only one at a time. However their travel time is faster so you will save a few seconds over mine.

Not sure if it's hippa compliant but it works.
