    rambus memoy question

Got a question regarding memory sticks. Its a lower price for rambus because of the metal heat sink. Looking at it, its only rivets. Take a sec to drill out and remove the heatsinks. Would this get it back to normal memory price?

Also the tin memory whats the going rate? Where it has silver fingers?

i think they usually discount the silver fingers a bit. If you do Ebay, you might do better with it there

We will go $14.00/lb on mixed memory. And the silver fingers are more than likely tin not silver.
We buy electronic scrap, Gold Karat scrap, gold filled, refined gold, silver and many other item's.

Is there any way to determine the silver from the tin, without a test kit?

I think that all the silver colored fingers on RAM is tin not silver. At least that is what my researching has concluded.

When I worked as a plating technician making metal connector pins, we plated with tin/ lead, nickel, gold and platnium. the actual connector tips were useally gold (because it was cheaper then platnium then) and platnium. Not doubting that it is tin, but usually they make connecting contacters of harder material that resist corrosion than tin. But, I am useally wrong too, just ask my wife...

If you want to solve the ystery yourself cut a few of the fingers off and put them in some HCL and add a little heat and if they are tin they will dissapear.
