As an entrepreneur, I've done well with strategic alliances and collaboration efforts in other fields, but not as yet with my interest in
escrap.
I wonder if anyone has been involved in any successful collaboration efforts and what those entailed. I've been thinking about this more and more after reading a thread by a young scrapper who needed to clear out his dad's junk yard but didn't have the money to front for a dumpster or a storage unit. It seems like there was a lot of money to be made if the kid had a little seed money and some strategic direction from a graybeard. Of course, this is just one example. It seems to me that there is a lot of escrap sitting in places where either there isn't enough manpower or money or a combination of both to move it profitably.
Since, it seems to my way of thinking, most independent scrappers are entrepreneurial at heart, there might be some good ideas or good examples of what to do (or not do) when it comes to creating collaborative efforts. The Internet (this forum) is making this possible for the first time in the history of scrapping. I figure it's worthy of some discussion.
