    Cool Shark Sever WON!!

Me and Scrapyaherd just won this beautiful IBM shark 2105-800. The beast weights 2650 lbs fully loaded. this one is only missing 68 hdds and has 48 of them. And now the hard part starts.

-Best ideas on getting this onto a trailer.

    - If you could sell it at .44 a lb would you dismantle it?

Now some pictures. Also i have tech specs on everything.

Born to think, destine to succeed.

Incredible. Good for you guys. Huge props.

I probably break it down. I think there is more there than that.

Yeah but do you really think there is 1100$ worth of ewaste in there?

2500*.44=1100 I just dont believe that there could be that much in the thing, but thats why im asking.

Congrats!!! If you could turn it at .44 thats a quick grand in your pocket after you take your investment out. You might get more by braking it down but how much time would it take. If you can get it on a trailer and take right to a buyer thats what I would do,I wouldn't what to handle that thing any more than I had to. Did you get my PM from last night 7/11/12 if not I'll resend it.

looks like you have about double my six . so I would guess $1100/$1200 would be about right. the labor to tear it down is intensive. my humble opinion is no. if you can get .44 for it, take the money and run to the next one.

did you know if those were custom or line machines ? if they were custom ,as many IBM are, you could be looking at once was upwards of half a million. $ there. one thing to be aware of is that IBM dosent sell its products to the customer, they work with a service agreement, so technicaly all IBM machines actually belong to IBM, but since most of them are custom they have no aftermarket use for them and don't want to transport them or store them so they usually turn a blind eye on disposal.

p.s.: IM TOLD THE WHITE CERAMIC PROCESSORS ON THE SERVER BOARDS CONTAIN BERILLIUM so its' best to leave them on the board.

From the specs that they gave us and looking at the Big Red Book it looks to be a normal model. I have no doubt that it cost that much as it was a jump in the storage server market of its time and was the largest unit of its series that they produced. If it had the expansion for another 100 something Hdds it would have added another 1609 lbs on but its just the base model.

In all honesty this sucker wont be broken down unless someone comes on and says there is a bar of gold in the thing. Its way to big to even screw around with and getting it loaded will be challenge enough. Im just glad theres a forklift at the place ill sell it at.

some ideas, have you ever seen an ac duct jack? not sure the capacity. Some used truck tires, a pallat jack and pallet come to mind. Also some cribbage using some kind of jack. jacking a little corner at a time with 2x 4's 4x4/s etc.

I cant take all the credit without partnering up with scrapyahherd would i have grown this fast. Every Friday and weekend were busting ass getting as much as we can possibly get our hands on. And during the week im planning out pick ups, stripping machines, and handling customer service. We got UBER lucky on this server because the search function on the auction site wouldn't show it except for one way. After this month i think were are going to spend a week or 2 going around the entire city and doing our spiel where ever they will listen. Danm glad i joined this forum.
