    Resell & Trade-in Resources

I thought it might be a good idea to collaborate resources for the resale & trade-in markets

Here is a list of website that you can trade in items

    http://mashable.com/2008/11/17/sell-old-gadgets/

    Any others?

I struggle with sites like these. It is a good way to unload things for more than scrap value, but in the end we are supporting our biggest competition.

Those pages are mostly written by people who are hoping for your clicks. They not only make a few pennies off the advertising on the page itself, but also for everyone who clicks one of the links from their page. They make a list of places that will pay them for clicks, and when they have ten web hosting sites, or ten shoelace sites, which will pay them for clicks, that's their "list" of the "best" ten. Then they post an article claiming to know all this firsthand, as if they are the expert, along with the list of "ten best" sites for this- or for that, beginning, of course, with the site that pays most "per click" at the top of the list, etc, etc. They know something about search engine optimization, and headline their article with every possible keyword someone might use when searching the particular subject. Then they go write another article on their next list of "ten best sites" for some other gooblydo, which they also know nothing about, excepting for knowing the sites will pay them for "clicks".

the best use for those pages is if you are actively searching for a particular type site, and need names of sites to check out, go there, get the names you need, close the page, then in another search, do a separate check for each one you find of interest

Bear, very well put. You have to wonder exactly how much they make vs paying for a server and host. I guess it is worth it or they would not do it.

I haven't used any of the sites from the link. I thought I would post it for those who might not want to go the ebay route. I was searching (still am) for a telecommunication and network equipment buyer. I've emailed a few websites and never got a response.

I am having the same problem with reselling telecom products. It seema as though those sites that advertise as buyers only want to deal directly with companys that are updating their current systems. If you look at their terms most state they do noy buy from the general public. Check out c.l.and see if their are buyers there. I found one or two local to me that i emailed earlier and hopefully will get a response tomorrow, if I do I will be happy to pass on the info to you if it goes well.

i can tell you from experience your gonna make more money selling these gadgets on ebay and craigslist than any of those sites. And I would much rather resell to the end consumer than our competition reguardless of cost. just my 2 cents

Ok...buy it at scrap .08/lbs and sell for hundreds a piece with no effort or time involved...yeah I must be wrong...bc major businesses always trust and relay on ebay instead of their trusted resellers...(who in turn buy from people like you or me...well, maybe just me)

With all due respect, is there anything inherently wrong with that? While I agree that the content is gobblydo, if the author scrounges a few cents, what are they doing wrong? The landing sites are paying him...they're going to pay for advertising somewhere, someway. Why not him? If the guy is clever enough to make a few cents off the drivel he writes, this is America! More power to him.

i find $40-$100 cell phones in scrap lots frequently (i resell them), the ones i get that are scrap i process them for boards, then i process the boards for gold plated metal and trimmings, make alot of money doing this, i can turn a 1 ounce board into 0.2 ounce of gold trimmings worth $3

Yes...then you have to list it...ship it...and if there are any issues with the cellie, appease the customer...(not to mention the time/ effort/ funds involved in listing of the item hoping it will sell)
For cell phones I sell straight to my guy overseas and make a very nice flat fee...yes sometimes he wins but I can tell you...about 7/10 times I do...and I'll take those odd's you know...
Cisco telecom gear and cell phones are 2 completely different things anyways...the targeted customers are very different so their expectations will be very different as well. (that should be taken into consideration) The difference in expectations between a $200 cell phone and a $2,000 VOIP office system are huge. Not too mention the integration help and customer service that will be required by that end user. You may make the most buck occasionally, but the headache it will cause bc you are not experienced in that type of equipment...I just don't see it working...
I agree with you in regards to newer smart phones...you are completely right...but I don't see that in the telecom sector...(maybe just in my dealings as I may be a little biased...I made a killing off that sale...and several since)
