I use a computer to test the RAM. I have several laying around that I use.

You will need one for each type of RAM.

PTS, looks like your going to need the rest of your vacation days to rest up. Glad to hear your getting lots of work.

Is there a way to know which ones came out of a server versus a tower? I mixed them all together. Maybe mother lesson learned... Keep them separated.

As far as what I use to test them. I have a test bench set up to test all the ram and parts. Basically just three different motherboards ddr1 2 and 3 boards so I can test the ram. You could buy a ram tester but thy are about $4000. Hard drives I have a USB hard drive disk I use to test them with some software that I have. But again if you dont want to spend the time to test all the stuff yourself I do buy the working stuff for better than scrap value.

Server RAM should have a chip count that is divisible by 3 or 5. Or it may be labeled as ECC. It can also be bigger than your regular RAM.

Server ram will usualy be ECC REG on the label. Desktop ram is non ECC. Thats the easiest way to tell. In the older servers the ram is usualy larger than a desktop ram stick. Not so in the newer ones.

I have several of those cables as well but the quantity of drives im testing the cables break to easy. So i stepped up and bought a dock.

Thanks for that info PTS, I looked on ebay and bought one similar. I hope it works because I have a bunch of hard drives I need to check and wipe before selling them. I have used the cable set that sells on ebay but I am certain that this will work out better. Mike.

LOL Geo i posted a link to the dock. Its an external docking station for testing sata and ide drives. It plugs in USB.

lol sorry pts, I haven't looked at yet and didn't know it was for the docking station.

PTS, what DVD/CD drives do you sell on ebay? I thought CD/DVD RW would be one, but last time i did a quick search, they didnt seem to be to popular.

I sell DVDRW and DL dvdrw all dvdrw drives will do CD's.

I saved you on ebay.

How hard is it for you to find similar items and to figure out what to sell your item for?

I have a few DVDRW's but when I research them on ebay, I see them as not really selling. The prices that I see you selling yours for, seems reasonable, especially if your making the seller pay for shipping, but like I said, when I search on ebay, I see no green lol

Also, how do you test them? Just plug them into the PC?s

okay apparently I was wrong. Maybe I typed something incorrectly on the android ebay app, because on the pc, it pulled up a bunch of dvdrw's lol

I test them with my drive dock. Plug them in play a dvd on them.
