Now its my turn.... What do i do with these?

Just trying to better my game. I dont know how to categorize these different cards, boards.. i dont even know what to call them. But i have photos. In most photos i threw in a stick of RAM for size comparison. All guidance is appreciated as alway!

Photo 1 Just a board with a bunch of pins. The board is thick. What should i do? Remove the pins? Please dont say yes, because it will be my first.

Photo 2 Back side of same board. More pins.

Photo 3 Board i pulled from the board in photo 1 And 2. High grade?

Photo 4 little boards with gold...... pins? much thicker than the pins in photo 1 and 2. do i try to remove these? theres alot going on with these boards
even if they are rather small.

Photo 5 Finger boards? these came from servers. good size gold fingers. but they have heat sinks, some of them with them on both sides. do i remove the heat sinks?

Sweat is the cologne of success!

What the heck did the boards from photo 4 come from? This is my opinion, and im not very good at grading boards, other than the obvious low and motherboard, ram, etc. Anyway, I would pull the gold pins off the first one, and toss the board in low grade. Second board, I would say high, or maybe even low telecom. Photo 4: I would try to sell them on ebay for gold recovery, if not, like super high grade, but idk. And last one would be finger boards. Idk about the heat sinks. I would leave them on to be safe.

photo number 4 with gold pegs came from a server blade/sleeve. in this photo you will find them on the bottom right.Theres two in each one stacked on top of eachother. these are awesome servers. 8 1gb ram, 2 solid copper heatsinks including the fins 0.92 lbs ea, 2 AMD processors with gold pins covering the entire thing, multiple finger cards. notice the gold content on the one in the middle of the photo. Once everything is removed the mobo weighs 3.2 lbs. The greatest thing about these.... one of my computer guys who buy my towers gives these to me for free. Someone else he buys used towers from asked if he could turn them in for recycling. In the past he went to some recycler who took them for free. Now he gives them to me for swap. One tower per server blade. Ill take that trade anytime. In fact i have, over 30 times.

Photo 1 is a back plane board. I think they pay same as motherboard grade or little higher. They are usualy very thick and heavy. Reason they are thick is the amount of comunication channels running between all those pins. I would put photo 3 in the mid to high grade telecom reagion. $4.50 or s a pound? Photo 4 no idea maybe low to mid grade telecom? Photo 5 pop of heat sinks and sell as finger cards. These are my best guess. I am still learning grades myself but thats what I think.

even though it is a back plane board you still should get server or telecom price for it.

Thanks PTS. My biggest concern with photo 4, how about the gold pegs? They seem to be significant enough to pull them off.

I wouldn't pull pins yet till you email the questionable pic's to your buyer and see how he grades them, that's the only answer that counts here. I'll take a guess tho; On photo #1-2 I have no idea, on #3 photo I would call that telecom, and photo #4 will probably need the heat sinks removed. Photo #5 if you send them that way they might downgrade them to what they call Rambus memory. Just my opinions; and you know what they say about opinions??

Do you ever try listing those as working parts?

Are you sure they are gold pegs in pic 4? They look to be brass mounting clamps that you often find under a mother board within a pc. Or do i need my glasses?

That was my thought as well. I've never seen a gold mounting pin, but I get brass ones all the time.

Ok I'll take a shot...photo one...backplane do not remove pins should get motherboard grade, photo 3 Telecom I say mid grade....those should be silver ram on the board that you can take off and sell with gold ram....photo 4 never saw those before, may want to send one to buyer before doing anything with them, may have some nice gold in them, photo 5 finger boards, remove heat sinks.

Bear, I know I should be doing that. You asked me this before when I started posting a few weeks ago and I said no. The farthest I've gotten to reselling is on Craigslist but that's just for "whole towers, or misc. Parts", I don't know how to refer to all these things to try to resell them. Im learning. One of these days I'll get something on eBay. I need one of those, "we sell your stuff on eBay store".

Brass? I knew it was too good to be true. And to think I was on my way to early retirement. Thanks for the reality check.

You'll do far better to do it yourself SC, even if you mess up the first few times, it can't cost much more than a sellers assistant(i think that's what they're called) would charge. If that's the absolute case tho, I think you can find them in your area by looking up seller assistant right on ebay

Those are definitely back planes and telecom boards on the others.... leave the heat sinks on and you wont have to clean the boards (those arnt gold pegs)
