However, those are the chips that I am talking about. I will take a look next time I get a brown board to see what you mean with it. I generally don't do anything with them. I try and maximize my storage with the more profitable stuff, so it is worth it to me.

Yes, sometimes I do. I am good when it comes to metal recycling, and even junk recycling. However, the world of ewaste, is real different to me.

Not saying that I am totally dumb when it comes to it, but for those of you who can look at a PC and tell that it is a p4, p3, etc, or tell the full details of a stick of ram, or a hard drive, etc.

Well, I am still learning it all. I cant tell all of that stuff. I mean I get the differences between IDE and SATA hard drives if I look at them, the difference in motherboards if I look at them and their color, etc.

Just like with anything, it takes time, and when you don't know anything about sometime, you ask a question, so you can hopefully not make a mistake.

I use Google a lot to find answers to a lot of things when I get stuck.

I use this same software for my own site (and no I am not advertising anything admins/mods), and like it has been said before, the search functionality sucks. It only works if you d 2 or 3 keywords, but if you type in a sentence, well good luck.

Not going to happen. Its blended with the Aluminum. You should get a premium for those pieces. It all depends on your scrap metal buyer.

I guess I was mistaken George, I thought those were your boards you were asking about. A lot of times if you have quite a few flatpacks and IC's on a double sided green board they will consider it a mid-grade at around .70 and up a lb.

Okay everyone, have a question. What is the easiest and simplest way of destroying the hard drives on imacs. I have 2 that work 100% and am allowed to re use them, BUT have to erase the hard drives and re install the os systems.

Unfortunately, for me, I never dealt with an imac before.

Any help or ideas is appreciated.

Also, in regards to the disk utility, I was reading the same information via Google. Just didnt know if there was other ways. My brother in law has an IMAC so I am going to see if he has a CD, if not, I will just get one.

Also, I have 2 laptops. I know how to get to the hard drive, by removing the top laywer, then the keyboard. Is that the only way to get to the hard drive and erase it, or is there an easier way then to dismantle the laptop?

Okay, so I tried Google's way of erasing the hard drives on imacs without removing the hard drives. Needless to say that did NOT work.

So, I dismantled the imac to remove the hard drive. Plugged the hard drive into my dell pc, and the pc is NOT detecting the hard drive at all.

Well let me rephrase that, my pc has a few different programs, including seatools with IS detecting the hard drive, but diskwipe, as well as "computer" is not recognizing the hard drive, and thus not allowing me to destroy it.

Any ideas on how to rectify this, because the "solutions" on Google are NOT working in my favor.

Okay, so I just learned something new. Google was right, BUT what they neglect to tell you, is that you MUST use another mac to delete a mac hard drive.

So that is currently happening now.

In the next post, will be a few pictures of the 4 desktop PCs I also picked up. 2 of them, have 2 of the biggest heat sinks I have yet to find. Also, one of them has 4 gb of ram, which I would have started using, but it is missing the hard drive.

So throw a H.D. in there and an operating system and you'd have a pretty good computer.

I plan to throw a hard drive and Windows 7 in there to see how it runs. If it does, probably just end up selling it.

Okay, I took out a couple of pc chips from a few of the pc's that I got yesterday. One of them says 486 on it, but not sure if it falls into the $140 category.

I also have a intel pentium ceramic chip but except for serial numbers at the bottom, has nothing on it.

Perhaps someone can point me into the wrong direction.

Also, below is 2 different IC Chips. These, unlike the other stuff, are easy to pull off, but my question is this, in everyone's opinion, is it worth pulling them off the motherboards?

I am no expert but I would put 486 in this group AMD 486 & 5x86 110.00 /Lb.
The Pentium in this group Pentium 1 ceramic 44.00 /Lb.
This is BarrenRealms007 pricing I used.
Not sure what most people do about the other 2 chips.
