Sorry if this is a stupid question. I tried to search for a thread about this but could not find one. Do the e waste buyers buy cpu chips by troy pound or regular pound? My current buyer buys my chips based on there being 16 ounces in a pound. I have been weighing my chips in troy ounces. There are 12 troy ounces in a troy pound. Played with the numbers and there is a difference.. any input will help. thank you..

All e-waste buyers I've ever dealt with deal in pounds for that stuff, not troy pounds.

you's sell copper by the pound, yet you buy it by the tonne.
doesn't make sense.
a tonne is 1000kg's, simple, sell copper by the kilogram, tweasy.
1 dollar is 100 cents, why isn't the US$ in pounds then?

we have the SAE ton, and the metric ton. The standard ton is 2000 lbs, and the metric ton is 2200 lbs because its still 1000kg. which at 2.2lbs/kg, is 2200. its rediculous, but because we work with lbs and oz, its not gonna change anytime soon...
but i have a question for you europeans and the way you name numbers...

The buyers are buying pounds of scrap. Once processed the cpu will result in troy ounces of pm and pounds of other materials. So it is proper to purchase the cpu's in pounds. Mike.

For home use you can still buy bathroom scales that have pounds and stones on them, but they generally have kilos on them as well.
