New client, New equipment, Best day ever!

Well my wife went out today and did a pick up at a new client. She paid $55 for the lot and sent me some pictures while i was at work. I looked at the larger server, looked it up and HP's website said it was a Intel Pentium 3 / Xeon server with unto 4 processors. She only paid $15 for this particular server.

Not too shabby but could be better. Anyways still a decent score.

Here is a pic of the server.

So while i was taking things out. i got to the ram and it had 18 sticks out of a possible 24. Im talking to my wife and am like hey look at all this ram, must be 1/2 a pound. This is great.

Well i start looking for the processors and say. I cant see where they are they must be under these expansion cards. So i take one out and my explodes with excitement. I pull the other and my mind is blown. I ran over to the table ripped off the heat sinks and found these guys.

It took me over a year to get 4.. And i get 4 in one day!!!! My wife has all the luck!

Anyways i need some advice. The company has 100+ computers and a bunch of servers in Texas. If i had to pay for them to ship them here do you think i would still be able to make money off the deal?

What would it cost for say 8 pallets of equip from Texas to NY?

Use a LESS FREIGHT company. I cant think of it right now, but there is a post some where, with a link to one that a few buyers on here use.

Some of the shipping companies also call it an LTL Load, which means, Less Than A Load. MY Dad, uses LTL Shipping quite a bit in his business. As I understand it, not all freight companies will allow any LTL loads. So, I would call several different freight companies and ask them IF they allow LTL loads.

When talking to any shipping company you should have several pieces of information on hand and that information is ...

    1. The zip codes (postal codes) from the shipping from location to the shipping to location.
    2. An estimated weight of the load to be shipped.
    3. Amount of time that you wish the load to be shipped. Amount of days/hours from pick up to delivery.

The shipping company may ask for more specific information, but these few things should give you and the freight company a closer idea of expectations for all parties involved.

I hope this bit of information helps you out some.

AWESOME! Saturday I was kinda in the same boat. I got four in my load Saturday and that's one more than I found my entire time collecting. I know the feel of excitement you experienced! That's the feeling of striking gold! Congrats on your find.

Droz, how about if you give someone in Texas the score and collect a commission for it, that way you don't lose out and the score gets picked up by a responsible scrapper.

Pentium Pro, and P3 Xeon are 2 very different beasts, be sure you know what you're getting. The photo you posted is an old Compaq server

The P3 Xeon CPUs I have are basically simple slot processors, like $10/pound?

Already thought of that it's an option i might pursue. The only thing is they expect to get paid for the equip, because that is what i do. So having some one else buy it in Texas might not be an option, of if they dont buy it at the prices i have set it could upset my client and hurt my rep here in NY. So it's currently a last resort.

You might want to use Yellow or Roadway. They seem to have good prices. Oh, and Id love to have some more e-waste, I just don't have the capacity to handle 8 pallets of it!
