My first load of E Scrap which was free. Woohoo!

Hey Guys, I've been kind of just lurking around the forums, not really posting, reading all the information I can possibly find, I didn't post a Introduction when I first joined because I kind of wanted to haul a big load of scrap to yard and have pictures of it. Well I have pictures of two big loads and yet a introduction lol. But I'm just gunna put this as a Late Introduction if its not minded.

Well gotten a call from a guy who owns a PC Business out of his house who said he was gunna clean out his basement and garage. Well, I made out great I'd say. A bunch of towers, A server. A Big Dell Cardboard box full of mixed Finger cards and other stuff, and then Alot of keyboards and cords and what not. He gave me a Working Mac, aswell, but its disgustingly dirty that I'm going to scrap it. Aswell, I got a Server. This thing still works, it sounds like a freaking jet engine turning it on. Has 6 or more fans in it. I'm debating on if I should scrap it or sell it or keep it, because I've been wanting to make a minecraft server and Minecraft isn't that demanding so if this server is kind of old it doesn't really matter.

    Well here are some pictures.

This and then we put a couple towers in my dads Work van as we went to pick it up from being serviced as we headed to the place.

This is everything, the server is the thing in the back by the scooter.

Box of random stuff and Finger cards.

    Processors and Ram Chips.

Pic of the server, the server is a HP Proliant DL585

Now I plugged it in, it has two power supply plug in's and when you turn it on, the fans speed up fast as heck and sounds like a jet engine.

This is a video of the exact same thing I have, but I think I'm missing a couple thing Idk.

Would it be worth it to sell it, or Keep it for like a Minecraft server, or just scrap it, I mean it does turn on, and my dad was telling me just to scrap it and I thought it had some potential.
So tell me what ya think and what ya think of my free load.

I know but I looked this server up and used condition is around 400 bucks it was asking, I mean heck, if I can get a 100 bucks out of it, It'd be good. Because I'd already be way up in the Green.

shipping will be the toughest task you face there, parting them out is more work in a way, but more money in the long run, and lots easier to ship. First thing, you need to know something about them, and the fact of it turning on is not nearly enough

Awesome load, Kochy!! Wow, especially for free, that's fantastic. What a great way to put you in the "black" right off the bat.

Server wise, I end up scrapping most of mine because they're old and not worth much, parts wise (even on eBay), but that can obviously vary from server to server. I like your idea of a minecraft server, lol. I mean, why not? You're already ahead of the game with the other stuff.

To keep or scrap or resell will be a constant (yet, fun) battle you'll deal with every time. Just ask any of us with a storage unit.

I am going to a Technical School for Computers this year, to build PCs, so I'd say I'm not your average scrapper. I have a lot of knowledge around PCs, so I could most likely if need be get it going if its missing a part.
Oh yeah Bigryan, big thanks to you, because if your ebook wasn't made, I'd prolly still be asking what E Scrap is.

That is a great haul for free, and if you have any old modems in that box, they have small med-hi grade boards in them also.

Very nice load. If you can boot up that server and see how muc ram it has and the CPU's you could possible get a couple hundred off it from ebay.

Part time it boots up, like if you watch the video and fast forward a bit it sounds like a jet engine. It boots up, I tried hooking a dell monitor up on it, I think it might be missing a Finger card. It doesn't have the hard drive either so I'm gunna try and get a server Hard drive to use for it. Tomorrow I go back to school. So I'll ask my tech teacher, about it.

Mine craft is not taxing enough to justify using a server of that size. You can run one on a desktop.

If you run it on that server you need to take the following into consideration.

Part will be more expensive to replace if they break.
It's an older server and might only be able to run an older operating system
That server will jump your electric bill 100-200 per month. I use to have one and i saved 125 on my bill by downgrading it.
    noise can be an issue.

    Edit:
Dont forget. if you put it in a small closet heat will be an issue.

That server will make your electric meter spin really fast, and it will also make whatever room of the house it's in much warmer. Sell it whole or scrap it!

I'm gonna take it to my technical school and see what we can do with it and see if we can mess with it a bit and upgrade it. If not I'll scrap the inside and make something awesome out of it.
