    Cleaning RAMBUS experiment results

So I have seen this question asked many times...does cleaning Rambus yield more profit? I have been searching the forums trying to find out a positive answer, but I've had no luck. SO! I decided to do a little experiment myself to find out.

First off...let's assume that Rambus is at $6.65 per lb, clean ram is $14.65 per lb (as per Ewasted's prices), and aluminum is $.50 per lb.

I weighed out 10 Rambus sticks, all with aluminum on ONE side. The total came out to be 9.8 oz. After removing all of the aluminum (which is VERY easy with a flat head screw driver), I ended up with 5.8 oz of CLEAN ram, and 3.8 oz of clean sheet aluminum.

    Before cleaning:
    Rambus: 9.8 oz @ $6.65/lb: $4.07

    After cleaning:
    Clean ram: 5.8 oz @ $14.65/lb: $5.31
    Sheet AL: 3.8 oz @ $.50/lb: $.12
    TOTAL: $5.43

In the end, the 5 minutes it took for me to clean the Rambus made me an extra $1.36. Not bad. Imagine this on the large scale, though. One stick would have yielded 40.7 cents at the beginning. After cleaning, however, the same chip yielded 54.3 cents, meaning you make an extra 13.6 cents for every single sided Rambus that you clean.

I will do the same experiment with double sided Rambus, as well, but I feel the results will be very similar...if not the same.

    Thanks for reading!
