    Audio/Video Equipment

I recently won a few lots at an auction that contained tons of Audio/Video equipment, evidently the person used to produce films back in the 80's and 90's. I have asked on a Film Production forum if anything would be of value but was told it was way too out dated. I've checked ebay and although people are listing the items for high prices, none have sold. Anyways, I have come to the conclusion that I will be scrapping everything. My question is has anyone had any experience this this stuff? There are several circuit boards in each of the Video recorders/editors that seem to be custom made for different things, they are loaded with IC chips, does this make them telecom or do they have to actually come from telecommunication equipment to be telecom boards? I would post a picture if I could figure it out...I will be studying that next and will post when I get it figured out.

The boards "categories" have to do with ic chips, gold pins or fingers, and other PM's (precious metals). If they don't have a lot of these then the value isn't as great. The mid-grade runs anywhere from .60 to 2.00 a lb. That's up to the buyer when he see's the boards and the total weight also plays a factor.

I will see if these picture work:

I have several of these boards - no 2 are the same

The things you see at the bottom are individual boards

This is a sample of some of the stuff I won

Amazing how all of that has been replaced with a good PC and several monitors. A matter of time before we no longer have desk top PC's and just a monitor tethered to a cell phone deivce.
As to the main issue, I would guess mid grade boards. I would Craigslist the nice cases.

Those boards I would call telecom grade, but that's just me. Also fixed your pic's.

try listing on ebay for 9.95, or 24.95, hek with what the others are asking for theirs, you might be surprised after a 7 day auction is up. Then again, you may be still headed for the scrap yard, who knows until you've tried

Try calling up some of the smaller audio visual companies, especially ones in hotels. There are a lot of smaller companies that still need some of the preview monitors, Beta players, cables, and other items in that pic for conferences and seminars. Especially medical and military conferences, because there are a LOT of older doctor types that have slides, overheads, and film, etc. and haven't transferred anything into the digital world yet...

I tried looking online for local A/V companies and couldn't find anything. Maybe I'm not looking under the right things????

Would you take off the removable IC's (non soldered) or leave them on?

If your scrapping the board then remove them and turn in separate. Some buyers have minimum quantities that you need to turn in though.

    mikeinreco:
I won 8 different lots for around $400 but this included some things that are not scrap and also several very old computers.

    sean7278:
I am totally uneducated with this stuff, I really don't know the difference between a VTR and a VCR...but I am guessing a VTR is something like this but I don't know about the Beta thing:

    unknownk:
I assume you are talking about A/V computer software? The only software I have seen is something called Avid VideoShop 2.0, there is also a Mac OS 9 disk in there. A Computer Capture card??? this?:

I have several of the above in the different recorders, which I think I have 6.

    ScrapBootstrap:
Nothing is updated enough to have DVD stuff.

I really wish I knew more about this stuff to better answer your questions but unfortunatly these item are like a different language to me.

Based on the interest here, I would say you should Ebay it to a larger exposure. Just make sure you get extra $$ for fees and shipping.

Thank you all for your responses, I will continue to hold on to these items for awhile and research some more.

I might of exaggerated the age of the computers a bit....They were all 386's...nothing older than that, and no, they have all been broke down.
