    Yup...

    Paying by the lb may very well result in over paying.
    If you think about it, most complete computers are pretty much similar in their components make up. But very different in their casing and PSU (weight wise).




    Mechanic688, 20-30$ worth of precious metals (not just gold) in one complete computer is not very far from the truth.
    But i do agree with you. Since the scrap exchange so many hands along the way, no one of us could ever pay this much. This value is usually extracted by the (large) refiners, not by us scrappers and dealers, they know how to turn profit from over 17 different elements (Gold, Palladium, Silver, Copper and Tin are the main money makers).
