This break down will depend on if you have a buyer nearby or not. I don't. Therefore at the very least, I pull the boards and ship them. Shipping whole hard drives or hard drives minus boards is not an option for me and everything must be broken down. Of course I e-bay on a regular basis, so am always ready to sell the magnets and platters with just 5 minutes work.
