look at the top 2 pictures in this thread, the 2nd pic shows the 1 ounce lot i sold for $50, comprised mostly of cell phond ldc cable trimmings. Super thin trimmings of fingers and solid plated areas. Gold fingers and trimmings can be sorted out into about 50 diff grades as discussed before. single sided, double sided, super thin/thick, solid plated one side, solid plated both sides. I also just sold 3.5 pounds of fingers/solid plated trimmings for $550 off of lcd monitor/tv boards.

Yes, thats the stuff in cell phones.

the lcd boards are green boards that have a finger all the way down along one side they also have alot of solid plated areas, as you can see alot of mylar with these also, so far ive accumumated 1 pound of mylar connectors off of lcd boards, wonder what it will bring

    look like this:

I think Olddude was talking about gold pins not gold fingers.

There not pins, they are cables, extremely thin ribbon style cables. I never said anything about pins. Gold plated pins are also sold by the grade. Ive sold those from $100-$400 per pound depending on how it graded out.

ok I see the situation. you are talking cell phones and I'm talking computers. if I trim the edges off of computer boards it degrades them.

I would think gold plated mylar would bring a premium price, it has to be easier to process and the weight of gold plate to mylar weight has to be high. just havnt seen it discussed here, but would like some buyers to chime in, I have buckets full of GP mylar.

"if I trim the edges off of computer boards it degrades them" not in all cases, if you are talking about computer slot cards like pci agp and so on you are correct, but the thinner boards with gold plating yield more than there scrap value sometimes alot more

I find i can make 400% by downgrading certain boards

I'm with you Olddude, I save the gold mylar from printers, these have gold dotts on them. I've asked before but not to much responce.jghilino what is the best way to cut the gold off of these boards? If you don't mind me asking who do you sell to to get that much return. You can PM me if you want to.

i just use regular scissors on the mylar and thin pcb's, i could probably give you a grade and estimate if you post a pic, i dont part out many printers so im not sure what the gold mylar cables from those looks like

Here is my feelings on cutting fingers and trimmings. It is just my opinion. If you take a board and cut the trimmings it will look like a superior product. Sometimes you cant sell a widget but you certainly part it out and make more money selling the parts than as a whole unit. That is why i part out cars before i scrap them and why i destroy certain types of boards. Because it is worth it and because i have buyers lined up for my product. I have 2 buyers right now waiting on more of my thin trimmings. They have no problem paying different $$$ for different grades. Not like certain buyers that say a pound of fingers is worth xxx dollars, and the fixed price is all they offer.
