    CD/DVD Drives

    So anyone have a payback analysis on removing the boards off CD/DVD drives?
    Or is this like the to brake down harddrive or not question.

    I don't have a breakdown but I like to take them all the way down and get the 3 lil motors and low grade board.
    Just a hint ( some of the small low grade boards have a small 2 pin gold connector attached, I use my wire cutters and grab and pull it up out of the solder).

    are older drive boards richer than newer drive boards ?

    Don't know if they contain more precious metals, but some of the older drive boards are a lot bigger, the same size as the drive itself (about 5" x7") and weigh quite a bit.

    i put floppy drive boards and full legnth cd rom drive boards in with my motherboards, my local board buyer does not care, he is a home refiner

    but in general they should bring the same as green motherboards, and depending on your hard drive board buyer you can clean and slip a few of the shorter length cd rom drive boards in with the hard drive boards like 10-20% by weight, never had any complaints mixing a few in. Laptop cd rom drive boards all of them go mixed in in with the hard drive boards.

    i got a bag rubber bands i put all the same together i feel as it makes easier on them sorting cheap investment to help buyers .my opinion

    I break them down they have four to six screws takes about five of them to get 1lb about 1 min of time thats $4.05 in the bank plus your motors and rest is shred.

    I break em down. My guy buys the drives at $0.15 a pound or the board for motherboard price.
