    another hard drive breakdown question

I know this debate is hot and everyone is FOR breaking down the drives. Mostly due to cost of shipping. But Im driving to Cleveland to see Mario this week. So is it really worth it? I have mostly older drives with FULL boards, not a 1/4 board like the new stuff. So will there be a gain for me ripping the boards off quick? He still will buy the drives headless for like 40c a lb. So breaking down further isnt worth the extra 10c in aluminum. But what about the boards? How much of a increase in $$$ is there? Just curious if anyone has the numbers. Personally I dont have the time and just did a 100 plus towers in 2 and half days getting ready for this trip. Plus trying to get vintage stuff up on ebay and testing the CHINESE crap to see if I can resell on ebay. But Im sure I can sneak some time to gain a extra 50c per drive if yall think so.

i've never done it, but thinking boards alone are worth more than whole hard drives in scrap

If you pull the boards off you can sell the rest as dirty aluminum if you can find a yard thats willing to take them. You wont make much money at all going this route but atleast you can get rid of them. I would put an add on cl at 50 cents each with boards removed, im sure a buyer will take them off your hands. If you come across any sata drives or 500gb or larger drives you can make decent money reselling them after they have been wiped.

About 6 hours give or take. No box truck. Just a NIssan Altima I bought specifically for the trip. Going to pull the seats and load it up till she squats..lol.

Not the first time I did it. Was just out there in August!

Why noy just sell the whole hard drive? Ewasted pays 1.10 per lbs. If you broke down 100 towers and they all had hard drives then you should have 150 lbs or more.

By my best guess rougly 300-400 in boards figuring boxes and what else I bought not in a box. Then processors, memory, etc. I would say 700 total lol Poor Nissan. Although that is what 2 fat chicks weigh I took out the other nite for a little wine, dine, and a lil love...lmao. So she should be fine..lol!

I have debated this myself depends on how bored you are and how much time you have if you have 100-300 hard drives i would take them off but its not everybody's thing,ALSO SEEN MARIO TWICE IN THE PAST 3months mario is so awesome in pricing me and another buddy split the cost on renting ,he has his stuff i have mine we had a total around 4000lbs MARIO IS DA MAN GOOD LUCK,PS WATCH OUT OHIO STATE TROOPERS WILL GETCHA LOL 83 IN A 65 LOL

Anything over 10 over can be considered reckless driving in Ind. and Ohio, just be forewarned. Especially in Van Wert Co. I think it is, they only allow you 5 over.

I had a friend one time coming home from Texas and really tired and an Ind. state trooper pulled him over for 15 over the limit. Well,,, little Billy Bad-A*s jumped out of the truck and run back to the cruiser screaming and cussing, and the trooper immediately cuffed and stuffed him, got him for reckless driving, resisting arrest and impounded his truck.

Ended up losing his CDL over that one.
