    Scrapping an Amazon Kindle (1st Gen)

    I got a old Amazon Kindle today to scrap. It got sat on or something and the screen was badly damaged. Anyway, here is how to scrap a Kindle!

    Before the teardown:


    I shoved a Flathead screwdriver into the side of it, and pried off the aluminum backing (Photo of Aluminum Back):




    With back off:


    After taking off a billion steel screws, you get to the main PCB (li-on battery removed also):


    You get a nice AnyDATA wireless Modem thingy. I'm assuming you would toss it in with fingercards?:


    Board with screen attached. What grade would it be with the screen on?


    Back of the board. Lots of gold. I almost want to say cell phone grade:


    All three of the goodies:


    If y'all ever get one of these, I would take it apart.

    I pulled apart a reader last week. I dont remember the brand but it had similar parts inside.
