Did you happen to take a look inside? Just wondering what something that doesn't work and is worth $260 contains. Mike.

it has some type networking card that is highly sought after.......I have a friend who advised me to list it after he saw what I had bought that day.............I tried to look at the inside but was afraid I would do more damage than good..........To me it was a piece of scrap so I figured anything I got above my $2 initial investment was a good day!!!

I almost always find a jewel or two in large cheap loads. Just last week, I closed an e-bay deal for $99 on some toner from a free copier I got and I now have another lot listed of the same stuff from the same load.

It only takes a minute to check completed listings on E-bay. That minute can lead to another 5 minutes spent taking pictures and doing a write up and another few minutes printing a label and then shipping. All of which can add up to hundreds of dollars or even thousands over the course of a year above and beyond scrap value.

Is that your sale? Or is that a completed item you found of the like?

Wow, that's a find. Can't help but wonder why anyone would give so much for such a dinosaur router.

I agree about a comment above on getting a better camera. Some of the best advice I ever received was the following. "Take pictures like you can not write a description, and write a description like you can't take pictures."

Those pictures are important. I even saw one of your reviews complain about the pictures even though you got a positive review over all from him.

I myself typically stay clear of auctions without clear pictures when I am buying something, especially a used item. I might just be that guy that would have been the next bidder. And if the previous bidder had a bid in at $40 but got it for $20 becase no one bid against him, well, that stuff does happen.

I once bought a coin from someone on E-bay. It was a decent coin at a decent price, but the best thing was that she stated free shipping on other items that I am selling when you have already bought one item. She had a lot of about 8 coins that had the absolute worst picture ever. There was one picture of these coins and because of the flash position when she took the picture, they all looked like a bunch of orbs of light. I got that lot for 99 cents with no shipping. The lot happened to be some 14th and 15th century Roman coins that I got about $160 for when I listed them with some good pictures.

Obviously it does not always work this way, but just some food for thought. At least you are listing stuff and making some good coin rather than scrapping it all out.

I have a camera that I bought about 10 years ago for over $800 that is still superior to many cameras these days. I can step back from a ring and zoom in and take a picture and clearly read the 14k stamp on the inside of the band. Granted, you can probably do that now with a $200 camera, but I am a firm believer in "a picture is worth a thousand words". And I get chewed out from my brother-in-law all the time for not putting enough pictures in my listings, LOL.

I agree I have wanted a camera but when I first started ebaying I was having a hard time uploading pics from my digital camera......My droid uploads the pics right to photobucket and it makes it so easy........Anyone know of a camera that has this capability????...........

You are a great person to discuss e-bay stuff with.

I have been unloading a bunch of mechanical "klicky" keyboards (off brand) that I bought for a total of $20. There was a good dozen of them and I am down to four of them. I was selling one every other week at my asking price of $19.99 plus $15 shipping. Just recently I decided to start offering them at that price with a "buy it now" price of $24.99. I am now moving them at the buy it now price at an average of 5 days and then relist it rather than one every other week at just $20. These are the tips that can help us both.

I am getting ready to list a bunch of IBM mechanicals that regularly sell for $40 each. (Got them for free). Feel free to start an e-mail discussion with me as I am sure we can both learn from each other.

That goes for anyone else. I have over 1,000 feedback on E-bay and can offer any advice if I can. Been doing it for awhile and am pretty comfortable with it. I don't mind sharing at all.
