    Tire Pressure Monitoring Sensors

Was doing an ebay search for something else and came across this completed auction.

100 Tire Pressure Sensor Monitors Bulk Foreign Domestic | eBay

They're selling any where from $4.50 to $7 each.

Any one familiar with them and why they're selling for such? Something special in them, or being reused?

    My guess
    Being reused
Have you ever priced one of those at the dealer?

Yea I am pretty sure they are for reuse due to the price of a brand new one being anywhere from $100 to $200 each.

My son works for a tire place and tells me that most newer cars have the sensors these days.

My trucks are usually older so by the time I get one that has sensors the new cars may not even have tires anymore.

On my Dodge Ram they don't tell individual pressure but rather warns (on the dash) if any one of the tires is low.
If it wasn't for the $ in $crap, it would just be.....

I have two vehicles that have them in them. They are awesome if it dips below what seems like 27 psi in my explorer the light pops on. 44 psi is fully filled. My F-150 has them in it and the tires are nitrogen filled. No loss of air at all no matter the weather or season. Its awesome not having to worry about filling up my tires during the winter.

Being a tire tech, I'll put my 2 cents worth in on this. Tire sensors are a good idea but the execution is severely lacking. Nine times out of ten when a car comes with the tire light on its a false alarm.

I can't stand them..........My f150 has them and one broke off inside the tire and rattled like a month till I took it to the tire shop to see what the hell was rattling........Now the light on my dash will not go off cause there is no sensor on one tire (WHAT A WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY)

Yes they go used from $15-$30 each. I wouldnt hesitate to buy a lot if i could get it for less than $5 each. There should be part numbers on them for easy identification.

most of the new tire pressure sensors are a 1 time use item. the older style that were mounted with a strap around the inside of the wheel were reusable & were able to be reprogramed by setting tire to correct pressure and driving for a few miles. from the look of the pic these are not reusable due to them being the [built into the valve stem type].

All tire sensors are reusable. Band type often used by ford are awesome because you don't have mess with em to dismount the tire. Three basic types of tpms sensors are band type, rubber valve stem with a sensor that screws into the stem, with the "football" shaped valve cap and the worst of em all the solid aluminum type with the nut that tightens down on the outside of the rim, which often get cross threaded or stripped out.

I wouldnt buy used TPMS they all are battery powered and the battery is non replacable once the battery is dead time to replace the whole sensor, i have been told but cant confirm a sensor should last 5-7 years but i have seen then last a year or 2 and sometimes alot longer. as far as i know there should be a trasducer, a battery, a transmitterm and some kind of control circuitry in them, kinda curious now i may have to try to dismatle a defective one tommorow

The battery can be replaced...It's a small lithium ion button battery, the plastic housing has to be broken then reglued to do it...I used to work in a place that made us replace the batteries so we could resell the sensors. Exacto knife and superglue is all you need...

I tore one open and there are 9 gold trace circles on the board. I have images but can not figure out how to add them without a website to post them to.
