    1985 laptop

I had a lady call me today and she tells me that she has a working laptop from 1985 and wants to know if im interested. Um ya! She says she doesnt know any specifics but she will get me all the info when she gets home tonight. She did say that she has all of the original documents and manual that came with it. Did I quick search and only found two laptops from 1985. The toshiba and osbourne. Ne ideas on a value guys?

Whatever it turns out to be, treat it nice and put it in the time capsule, it will only appreciate!

There were a few luggables back then as well (too heavy for lap use). Get a model number and some pictures.

I had one called the Visual Commuter Computer. It came out in 1983, but I had a 1985 model that featured 24 lines of text. It was the first portable IBM compatible computer with an LCD screen. It was valued around $750.00, but I ended up donating it to a museum. It cost around $2000.00 when it was new.

It was the first portable computer purchased by a private college close to where I live. Needless to say donating back to them has paid huge dividends as I now do ALL of their computer recycling. the last load I got had 100+ fully functional Gateway Core 2 Duo machines. Doing the next right thing does pay off every once in a while...lol
There may a million better places to live than Iowa, but none of them are home!

She Finally called me back at 1030 last night. Its a compaq slt286. looks like that model came out in 1990. Looked on ebay they were selling for around 50 bucks. Im thinking she thinks its worth alot more but we will see if i can pick it up for 10 or 20 i prob go ahead and get it just to keep it.

Had some kind of slot processor if I recall. I had expected a ceramic CPU.
