I have a few and with the gold to board ratio I'm thinking about having them refined.

I just googled '' low noise block off satellite'' after reading the OP and are we talking about those things that are on the satellite dishes that have the white plastic caps on them? They have boards inside them?? I've been turning them in whole as die cast because i didnt think those things come apart. I cant even get the white caps off. dang.

Yeah...those are the LNBs. Both DN and DTV use them, as well as old PrimeStar systems and others.

Yep. I split 'em open with the claw side of a hammer.

There's different sizes but one thing in common is a whole lot of screws. Look like size T4 or smaller. The white cap is just a snap-on. Some have a bottom snapped in place with the seams siliconed. The one I pictured is a single, doubles are real common.

There are a lot of screws But there are pc boards inside the aluminum shell, not so much under the caps. I took some apart and the board has gold plating at several spots, so every little bit helps as far as gold goes plus you have the cast aluminum to add to scrap.
