Large rackmount server breakdown

Just got a load of older large rackmount servers. These are some of the larger rackmount units that I have seen, much bigger than a 4U or 5U. Some of them weighed nearly a 100 lbs each.
I did a detailed breakdown on a few, just to see the exact scrap value per unit, how I did and FYI. I paid $25 each for 18 units, I did come out pretty good. Yesterday took the steel to the yard, from the 18 servers plus had a little more it was almost 1400 lbs!

I get these in from time to time...in fact I have a couple right now (generally were hard drive RAID units).

IF that is a tape drive backup on the bottom on the pictured server, it CAN be worth way more than scrap value. Check Ebay...even non working units are worth more then scrap. If you can hook it up and check it, it can be worth $40+ by itself.

ALSO the power supplies are generally hotswappable and can be sold along with the fan banks and power blocks. Most of the hot swapable power supplies also have a gold finger boad where it hooks into the hot swap bay...break that off with pliers as you will NOT get any more for it (won't ding you either) and sell it as either high grade or finger boards.

These can be a PITA if you have to move them by hand, but pay pretty good as you can see.

I have a monster on my trailer right now.........Prob weighs 1000LBS with all the components in it.........Will try to post pics when I do something with it
