    Smart Media Cards

Has anyone found any of these before? I cleaned out a shed and there were several old Olympus digital cameras but none in working condition. Batteries had corroded inside all of them. I have a few of these smart media cards and wondered if anyone had sold any to our scrap buyers.

They have obvious gold plating, but I was not sure what category they went into and if I should send them whole or cut them up. Just curious if anyone else had worked with these before...

You might want to resell those cards online vs scrapping them. Probably the cameras, as well. A quick search on eBay showed some good numbers. Here's a sample:

Thanks Diamond, but as I mentioned the cameras do not function since the batteries were corroded in the cameras and this also leaves me with no way to test the media cards. I also saw several on Ebay that were not selling at much lower prices, but I might be able to put some together in "parts" lots as untested and see how they do.

I was mainly wondering if anyone had sold the cards as scrap and what they might be classified as. Thanks

Sorry I can not answer your specific question.

You should be able to test them cards out on your computer if it has a card reader on it. My laptop has a small slot just under the touchpad that will accept certain types. There are also various expansion cards and accessories that will read multiple types of cards. I have picked up a couple here and there. I have also seen them for sale starting around 10 bucks.

There is gold plated metal in them which will bring $100 per pound. Hope that helps.

they were larger than the slots on my computer so I couldn't test them out that way. I have them set aside to send in with my next gold finger lot as my buyer said he will buy them the same as sim cards. thanks for all the input

Theres a nice layer of gold on them, real thick.

Originally those cards were really expensive, so people brought the smaller memory ones.

    I'd try ebay.

I have the same camera at home, a SMD capactor fell out of it. I want the camera so I can sell stuff on ebay etc.

Have you considered listing the cameras as non-working and for parts only?

I did actually list the cameras. One sold and I was able to clean the battery connections on another one and that sold too, but neither one were the cameras that went with these cards! lol
