CPU with Heatsinks

I know the Copper Heatsinks add weight to the cpu but does it add value to take them off? Get $$ for the copper and then higher payoff for fiber cpu or is a wash?

Pretty sure the heatsinks have to be off to sell the CPUs. The copper is probably worth more than the cpu due to shear weight of most copper heatsinks.

Yeah you wont find a place that will buy your CPUs with a heatsink on them. But whether or not they are aluminum or copper you can still sell them somewhere else. THey majority of weight in a CPU and heatsink is in the heatsink and copper and aluminum prices are less than per pound prices for CPUs. SO nutshell separate them and sell the CPUs to a buyer on here and heatsinks to your yard.

I think he is on about copper heatsinks glued onto the chips themselves. If this is the case, leave them on.

Well if you pop the built in heatsink off a p3 fiber cpu, it will go from $6 per pound to $20 per pound in value. But you will lose half the weight. So you still come out ahead by removing them and selling them as #2 copper and the cpu as a fiber cpu.
