    Crazy eBay auction

I was researching Hard Drives on eBay and ran a 10.2G Maxtor just to see if anybody was even TRYING to sell them. Found THIS: Maxtor 51024H2 10 2GB IDE Hard Disc AA5FA3 0102645802435 | eBay

And I was hoping to get $40-$50 for the 160-250 gig drives I've got.

People may laugh at me, but that's ok. I laugh all the way to the bank.

Hmmmm...I have a few small gig drives, I think 6 gigs, I pulled from some apple g3's. I have to rethink some things now with the older hd's now. I have definetly sent those maxtor drives to my buyer in the past....ohh the pain...lol

Anybody that uses big words like referbished must really know sumpfin! I'd be afraid of a self refurbished actually. BUT, they did sell one! For $240! Only HDD in completed listings, an 853MB WD. Might should grab some of their cheap $40 toilet paper while you're there, returns accepted(what I liked about that one ; )

You can ask whatever price you want for that widget but that dosent mean that somone is going to buy it at that price. I can buy new 1tb drives for $65 and 2tb for $90. I dont think you will get $40 each for 250gb's.

There is a tremendous market for legacy equipment. I'm really shocked at what some things go for, but just goes to show that you shouldnt rush into tearing up something if you suspect it could be worth something on ebay.

Yeah, thats one lesson I think many of us learn the hard way. You know that OLD saying "one mans junk can be my treasure" or something like that. The only thing I don't get is that its not really an old HDD. I guess im gonna have to list some old 20MB IBM HDD's for ohh i dont know $1,000,000 any takers? thier rare I only have 5

Dont forget to use the terms "vintage" or "legacy" or "retro". These always seem to bring in the buyers.

Great part about ebay is you can ask what ever you want for what you got. As far as selling 160-250 drives shoot for the $20-25 range Mick and they will sell pretty good. I think I might have sold a few of them in the past few months.
