I've looked into other buyers even Arcoa.

With the amount of boards i ship i would not be able to drive to them and would need to ship by pallet. More than tripling my shipping costs. So even though the prices are higher i break even if not lose money using that buyer.
i hear you the shipping costs are one of the deciding factors, and really it works out price wise the same either way, im just lazy and would rather not pull them if im gonna make the same money reguardless, you want the heatsinks pulled fine but i want a better price than the guy that dosent care

My buyer ask that I remove all exesse metal on all high grade boards, so I do. I also get benefits from my buyer that I would not get from any other buyer. I will not deal with arcoa, I have heard to many complaints about them, Like waiting two months for a check. my .02

Every buyer has the way they want material. I for one have a clean and dirty price. So if you want to be lazy and give me dirty boards then your going to pay me to clean them up for the refiner by getting a lesser price. Time is money and everyone has to decide for themselves what thier time is worth. Mine is worth 50 cents a pound

I just sold 70 pounds of dirty motherboards boards as you call them for $4.50, that did not include shipping, but atleast all i had to remove was the batteries. I sold them to one of the buyers on here.

Well this might suck. I sent off a box of large chip MB that I only took the CPU heat sink off (and metal and plastic). My other two buyers nexer asked me to take north and south bridge heat sinks off.

Happyscraper, I am a buyer for ARCOA. There were some known issues at the Orlando terminal that were causing delays in payment, but those issues have been addressed to the best of my knowledge. I just helped out another member of the forum in getting his payment issues resolved from when they still existed, and I'll do the same for anyone that can document the fact that they dropped off material at our Orlando location and have not been paid:

    http://www.scrapmetalforum.com/scrap...ations-4.html?

FWIW, it's a whole lot easier to prevent problems in the first place than it is to resolve them after they occur. Any vendor will take their material to the place they get the best deal, and no one can blame them for that. We don't always pay the highest prices, but no vendor that sells material to me is going to wait two months for payment if they help me out by thoroughly documenting their drop off. I know the right cages to rattle.

Do yall take these things off before you send your mobos?

The buyer I was hoping to develop a relationship with wants that done. Well, after spending almost an hour and only getting three reasonably clean, I've concluded my time would be better spent stripping 60 guage wire.

Anyone know a buyer that DOESN'T require that?

Any buyer asking that you take those off are wasting your time. Send your business else where.

Get rid of that buyer asap and tell him he may be the only buyer in the country/world/universe! who asks his customers to do this.

Why would they won't those removed, the ones on all mine contain gold connectors inside those little boxes.

But hey, I could be wrong..I know shocking, but it's possible.

    1. Clean out the tower:
    - take out the motherboard with everything on it
    - take out any drives (floppy, CD, HDD)
    - take out any PCI cards, the power supply, all wires, any fans
    2. Clean the motherboard:
    - take out RAM
    - take out the CPU and its heatsink
    - remove the battery and anything that is big and made of steel (like those brackets some MBs have on the bottom)
    3. Separate wires:
    - cut off any gold connectors
    - cut off the wires from the power supply
    4. HDD
    - remove its board and whack the drive with a hammer a few times

I used to take apart CD-ROMS and floppy drives but I don't do it anymore, not worth the time for me.
Now, can ya tell us how to do that in order, with your eyes closed? ; )
