Direct TV cable receivers

I saw months ago people talking about the DirectTV and Satellite Receiver boxes, but I cant remember what about them is working scrapping them.

For instance, is the motherboard actual motherboard grade, or would it be lower, and what are the cards generally worth?

They differ slightly Geo from the $2.50 to $4 a pound range depending on how populated they are. I can tell you one thing the drives out of the DVR's are awesome.

You know something, I never thought of a DVR having a hard drive in it, but that obviously makes perfect sense, since it is a recorder lol

I have 2 of them lol

In what way are they awesome?


Also, like a year or so ago, you or someone else had posted a board on here that came from the actual satellite dish. It looked to be like 90% gold content. Did anyone ever figure out a buyer for them or how they are classified?

The main boards should be rated as mid-high grade, in my opinion. I have a few that look better than others and have a lot of steel on them with the tuners, but also have a lot of i/c's, pins, etc. My particular lot already had the power cords cut off, but they still turned out to be a goldmine for me as I only paid .18-.20 per lb. You will need a 4.5mm and a small torx security bit for some of them. Hope this helps.

MMMMM sata hard drives. Thats why GEO. They usualy have some good hard drives in them.

I have been getting motherboard price I believe as long as I rip off the small steel boxes on them. Only takes a second with a pair of channel-locks.

So basically if I payed a $1 a piece, I would definitely not loose money. Good to know.

Since $1 a piece is more than a scrapper would get at my yard, I see a new avenue!

get all you can at $1 each before they realize whats they are worth =)

You mean this one?? I'm saving them to have refined, I'm curious about what's in there. And they don't take up much room.



Here's a couple of boards, different styles.

The one I was referring to before, looked like it was 98% gold content. It literally almost looked like a bar of gold. No one on here knew what to classify it as. I just wish I remember who posted it.

Mechanic, that looks definitely close to it. (This was not long after I had joined, so I dont remember exactly what it looked like, but I do believe it was definitely like that).
