Average tare weight of gaylord and pallet

Magic Mike, I drive a truck and do a lil' pallet recycling. I do know the average 4 way pallet to weigh roughly 43 lbs. We also use gaylords for shipping some air freight items. I believe they are roughly 13 lbs. Obviously, as you stated this could vary. I would add a little bit more weight for "chep" brand pallets, as they are made from 4x4's they're usually the blue painted ones. I would +/- 10% either way of say 55 lbs.

Also, if all else fails see if he has some unused skids/ gaylords. He should have no problem weighing them in front of you, if you're both true players.

never weighed a gaylord by itself but have picked up many empty & they had to go atleast 20-23lbs. be careful as i bought 2 gaylords last week full of mb & at the bottom of one was prob 30 lbs of satt boards & several mb with full metal backs [dell]. not to mention prob 5-6 pounds of wite lol.

I had to run out to the shop for more Collins mix so I weighed one of my gaylords. They are 45x37x41 tall double wall. It was 40.5 pounds.

This particular one weighs 15 lbs.

I suggest you should do more research when you don't like an answer.

Then again uline is owned by witches and is known for false advertising and trickery.

Here is an idea call a scrap yard ask to talk to someone in the non ferrous department about pallets and skids and ask them how much on average do they happen to weight? They should be able to tell you an average. My guess would be 75 to 80 lbs. Most of the gaylords I have ever seen are thick walled. Heck most of them are from alan shulman or some company like that that deals in plastics and resins. That is when you know you have loaded way to many boxes with scrap when you can remember that.

It would also give you the opportunity to inspect the load for lower value items slipped in there.

Our boxes and skids typically weigh up between 70-80 lbs. We use two ply boxes. If the skid or box is heavy duty they can easily weigh 90-100 pounds.

I went to a buyer yesterday and i sold scrap and on the average the pallet and gaylord weighed from 40 to 80 lbs. hope this is a big help to you.
