After receiving 45 old computer units and scrapping most of them, I remembered a old crappy IBM unit we had several of. The IBM 55SX personal computer. I googled the Hard Drive model to see if there was any value in a 60mb unit and it looks like these tower units are selling for $220+ and there are buyers.
Scrapped 4 of them. Now I want to kick my self in the butt!

Tip of the day, RESEARCH!!!. I tend to make less of these mistakes now though but the urge is still there.
It's amazing how we scrappers will take 30mins trying to squeeze $0.50 of copper out of something but not take a few minutes to check 'completed listings', lol. It's also hard to overcome the “listing-is-a-pain-in-the-a**” syndrome. But it's something you have to do if you're serious about maximizing profit.
Just this week I sold a switch and a fence charger on eBay for $240. I had to constrain myself from grabbing the drill and going to town, for what? $5-$8 in scrap?

Ill tell you this much you will only do that once and the next time you will check before you tear them down.

That first "I wasted a lot of money" moment is always the toughest one. We've all been there, done that. In fact recently I was flying through some stuff and about to cut a cord when instinct kicked in and decided to take another look at what I was about to scrap. Caught myself just in time!

I have done that, cut the grinder cord with the grinder and then wondered why the grinder stopped working. It was just one of those days......

I was digging thru my outdoor pile looking for some good stuff to tear down and found 2 brand new printers buried under the pile for about 8 months.
One was still in plastic with the ink and manual/cords. My former partner had piled the stuff there.

I just checked, one 55sx sold for a penny, $70 was the high end. These are small desktops not towers, get the model number wrong? There is a small market for PS/2 HDs and floppy drives (mostly because they fail with age). Few people pay much for an old IBM unless it is clean, tested and shown working with plenty of good pictures.
