Thanks everyone for the input. I've checked with TriStar in Atlanta and they were corresponding with me a bit, but would never provide me with prices. So, I've given up on them.

I used Echo Environmental for my 1st load of e-scrap, but they have since changed their prices quite a bit. So, it looks like I may be looking for someone new to sell my e-scrap to. I've listed below the current quote they've sent me.

This is what I currently have on-hand:

Motherboards - 273lbs
Low grade - 103lbs
Ram - 16.5lbs
Processors - 11lbs
Cd-ROM boards - 7lbs
PCI cards - 68lbs
Hard drive boards - 10lbs

Gosh Josh...we need to work together with maybe shendog and any others to get someone that will buy escrap here in ga. I know I will have a TON or brown board I need to recycle and I cant find anyone doing it....makes no sense to ship. Rwally we need a great local for ewaste, cardboard and plastic. I bet we could get a b7nvh together if someone would consolidate it and ship out by the tractor trailer load or railcar load.

Hit me up and lets swap notes and figure out someone we can deal with.

A bit of new development, the company I used last time, Echo Environmental, had a drop-off location in Norcross, GA. They've changed the prices if you drop-off in Norcross, GA. And it's going to cost me WAY too much money to ship what I have. So, I've decided to drive the e-scrap to Echo Environmental's location in Dallas, TX. I'll eat up about $250 in gas/food, but it's the most profitable option I have and I like the company a lot.

I currently buy e-scrap, but I pay about half of what I can get for it. Because I turn around and sell it to Echo.

How is shipping going to cost you more than driving? If the freight quote for what you had was going to only cost 118 into Tampa then it should still be less than 250 into Dallas or Ohio... Buying scrap is the easy part , where the successful companies make money and survive is learning how to sell

I guess the other thing to consider is this...what is the difference in price in norcross vs tx? I assume you have enough volume that the $250 in driving expenses are moot...but then again you have to add in your time...sounds like 2-3 days...and for me at what I try to make an hour...it would have to be another $500-750 difference in pricing for me to drive....ie I would use a shipper, pay then and go find more stuff. Write that off as a cost of doing business.

Low Grade - 103lbs = 0.10/lb = .17
Ram - 16.5lbs = 10.50/lb = 12.50
Processors - 11lbs = 4.00/lb = 7.50
CD/DVD Rom Boards - 7lbs = 1.25/lb = 1.85
PCI Cards - 68lbs = 2.50/lb = 4.20
Hard Drive Boards - 10lbs = 7.00/lb = 10.15

Total: = 1090.55 = 1634.51

I stand to profit $543.96 more by taking/shipping to Dallas, TX. It cost me $236.72 in gas. So, I stood to make $307 more by taking it to Dallas, TX. My wife and I turned it into a mini-weekend vacation, so it was definitely worth taking to Dallas, TX.

The reason I didn't entertain shipping as an option, is that I have no idea how to ship things so large. That would involve multiple gaylords (which I hear cost $100+), big rigs, etc. FedEx Freight quoted me $600, not including the cost of the gaylords. If anyone knows how to ship large shipments for under $240 I'm all ears, because I don't think I want to make the haul to Dallas, TX again, but I am willing to if I can't get cheap enough shipping.

By the way, this was with using Echo Environmental. I highly recommend them, they have been VERY straight-forward, honest, quick with payment, and pay more than anyone else I've run into.

On their website, in addition to their locations, they have a bunch of cities listed as board drop off sites. This list included Atl, Charleston, Raleigh etc. do you know anything about this?

I know ewasted has freight contracts, You may have some luck getting produce bins from grocery stores. Watermelon, cantelope, oranges, etc can come in cardboard pallet bins and a lot of the time they just go in the crusher.

Ok I spoke with one of the reps..all those site you see listed are pickup sites (another yard contracted by them). I was trying to work out them buying brown boards...they cant do it with the local yard because of space...but I will contact the person I was working with monday to see if we can work out an economical way to ship to dallas...maybe on one of their trucks or something. Will let everyone know details when I do...maybe we have to combine things into a large enough load.

Matt beat me to it, but I'll say it again also..from what I understand, Mario and the gang in Oh get great deals on freight, and regular shipping.

But you gotta do whats best for you. Easy is down there in Dallas still I think also, might want to peruse his buyer thread. He's not been around or updated in awhile, but I understand thats cause he's super busy, just like Mario/Ewasted.

Not a sermon..just a thought. (HA I"ve been wanting to use that line forever!)

I know this thread is old, but I just saw it and thought I'd chime in. There's a scrap yard in Norcross called Progressive Recycling. They pay $3/lb for motherboards. They don't pay right for finger boards, but they also accept low grade boards at $0.20/lb. I hope this helps!

Actually there is a company in I use for lower grade stuff...I take my brown board, cd drives, power supplies and they EVEN take LCD screens that are not broken or scratched for $2 EACH...I can even bring in JUST the LCD and taken everything out if I like. Hit me up and I am sure I can help you out with them. Oh they pay CASH on the spot too (if under $1000)

Is that company in Watkinsville? That's kinda far for me. I do, however, have like 150 hot swap power supplies that I'd love to get rid of...

Maybe you should hit ME up, bc I know someone that will pay you $4 for each LCD screen that is complete (base, boards, etc all there).

You mean offer to buy LCDs for $x and sell them to my guy for $4? I've been considering this for a few days, just don't really have the money at the moment to offer to buy them from people

I know this is a super old post, but I'm new to e-waste selling and I was wondering if there have been any updates on Georgia buyers? I've got a guy coming down from Maryland to pick up what I currently have, but would really prefer to establish a relationship with a local vendor.

Electrowaste could you give me more info about being a buyer? If I buy, I eventually have to sell to someone... does being the owner of a lot of stuff (versus small amounts) give me the ability to sell better/more? Like I said I am new to all this so maybe I'm not seeing the bigger picture.
