George, you can upgrade that laptop to 2 GB with no problem. The computer will not recognize more than 3(sometimes 4) unless you have a 64 bit operating system. The other thing to look at is the speed of the RAM.
Yeah this particular laptop can only hold 2 sticks. I believe i have some ddr2 that it takes, so I will look in the am and if so, see if it will work. Thanks.

Yeah, when I opened up the RAM area, it has a sticker or something that said to only use DDR2 ram.
