    Pentium Mobile Processor

I opened up a laptop yesterday, and god pretty excited when I caught a glimpse of this gold colored square under the heatsink. It just ended up being another heatsink on top of the processor. Does anyone know what this is made out of? It's gold in color, but I wouldn't think it would be gold plated. Looks more like copper.

I took some of these to my yard and they scanned it with an XRF gun. It is Gold plated Copper usually. The guy said it registered 2% Gold, but with plating it is difficult to gauge what is actually there.

Edit- I meant the heat sink by the way. Not sure about the square underneath but there is Gold there too I imagine.

Thanks, I guess I'll not throw it in with the copper then haha. If it is actually 2% gold, then there is 0.44g of gold in it, that would be nice.

It does not necessarily mean that 2% of that heat sink is actually Gold. There is Gold plating and it is enough to register on the gun.
